Customer Reviews of The Grindhouse Experience 20 Film Set
Crap Quality, cool movies, worth the price I have watched a bunch of these movies now, and I have to say that the movies are pretty awesome. The quality is absolute crap, they are bad VHS copies put to DVD and some are heavily cut, but then again these movies haven't been out on DVD before and probably never will again so I'll take what I can get. <

>The packaging is pretty horrible. It is all around a very cheap set, but it is for sure worth the price if you are into exploitation and sleazy movies. <

>And since the company that put this out doesn't own the rights to some of the movies on the set (maybe all of them?), you should get this while you can. It may quickly go OOP if some of the real owners of these movies feel like doing something about it.
An impressive sampler of many grindhouse genres
I didn't rate this 5 stars because the packaging & disc printing weren't very helpful. But it earns the other 4 stars for a diverse lineup of late 60's through early 80's grindhouse fare.

>The discs themselves are great-- nothing fancy, the films will play back-to-back if you start with the first one, a double feature on each side of every disc. The menu comes right up without any cheesy manufacturer logo/intro, and is straightforward with 6 chapter stops per film. I've watched the kung fu, spaghetti western, & crime movies so far, and am looking forward to the other genres in the set.. Most are predictably video transfers in full screen, but there are also some film transfers in widescreen. The picture & sound quality add to the experience, if anything.

...good, but could have been so much better!!!
...right off the bat, this is a pretty good item to have; the film selections, paired off, and rigged on each disc to run repeatedly back-to-back, in much the same way they might have been, when released and shown in the actual grindhouse movie theatres, were definitely culled from videotape masters, and yet are still most acceptable and delightfully enjoyable (...or as 'delightfully enjoyable' as films, such as these, can possibly get). Indeed, some of these titles ARE rarities, and have hardly ever been seen since the good ol' days of the grindhouses.

>As I said, this selection of films IS good, but the presentation could have been so much better; the title on the box set claims "The Grindhouse Experience", and with the discs rigged to play their corresponding pairs of filmsd, repeatedly back-to-back, the makers of this box set has only partially successed in accomplishing this effect. To make the experience of viewing these multiple double-features, much more akin to the 'grindhouse experience', there should have been some classic 'grindhouse'-type movie trailers preceeding, and sandwiched in between the feature films. Such a feat would have made this compilation of 'grindhouse' films, a veritable jewel amongst film collectors.

>...a nice and respectable try, for the makers of this box set; unfortunately, they didn't quite go the distance, as far as emulating the 'grindhouse experience'. Ah, perhaps the next 'grindhouse' box set they put out, hmmmmm?????
