Customer Reviews of The Fox and the Hound (25th Anniversary Edition)
Great story, Awful DVD This review is for the single disc version, not the two disc special edition that just came out. I'm not much for special features, so I have stopped wasting money on the second discs that I never watch. But, I digress. this is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I am VERY disappointed with the DVD. There is NO way to turn off the stupid subtitles! A lot of my Disney DVDs default to playing the film with the subtitles in English, but that is quickly remedied with selecting the no subtitle option. Well, with this one, I selected the no subtitle option using my remote. No luck. Even when you select "none," it's still the English language subtitle. I used the DVD disc menu to choose no subtitle. Still no luck. It is VERY annoying and really detracts from watching the movie. I'm not buying another copy, so it looks like I'm stuck with this one, unfortunately.
Is Disney getting lazy or they just don't care anymore?
3 stars is for the dvd itself not the film (the movie gets 4 1/2). So can anyone tell me is Disney getting lazy or maybe they just don't care anymore? When I heard that this movie was coming out I got excited. Then when I purchased it and watched I was very disappointed toe see that the picture had not been restored. Other Disney films Platinum, Special, Masterpiece, whatever have gotten restored why not this one? I hope Disney doesn't do this again to any upcoming special or masterpiece editions of their films.
Why is this movie so underrecognized?
I haven't seen this movie in a while, but I absolutely loved it as a child. Just a warning, though: I've never cried so hard at ANY movie. I actually thought my heart would break for these cartoon animals. But while I'm not sure why such tragic moments are necessary for kids to endure (this is why my sister refuses to watch it), it remains one of my favorites from Disney.
