Customer Reviews of The Earliest Concerto Recordings, Vol. 2
heifetz rocks All I can say is "wow" to these classic heifetz performances. I don't have this particular CD release, but I have all of these performances on other CDs and LPs...If you haven't heard these, prepare to be amazed, particularly with the second CD which has the Walton Concerto, tailor-made for Heifetz, and it certainly has never been surpassed, not even with heifetz's later recording with the composer conducting. The brahms concerto is a great reading, as well as superb orcehstra work by the BSO with Koussevitzky. The Saint-Saens staples are magnificent, the Sarasate Zigeunerweisen impeccable, and the Wieniawksi and Vieuxtemps concertos will make one's jaw drop.
