Customer Reviews of The Devil's Advocate (Widescreen Edition)
More Terrifying since The Exorcist!!! Anyone who likes horror movies absolutely has to watch this!!! It was an instant classic from the beginning, and I would recommend this to anyone!!! <
>Kevin, an eager attorney from the south, comes to work at a firm in New York for the Devil posing as the president of the firm. Kevin's wife starts seeing people's faces change into demons', and she ends up commiting suicide. In the end, Kevin faces the Devil (his father, as it turns out), and the rest is history...
A Brilliant, Bonechilling Masterpiece
Kevin Lomax has it all. He's a successful Floirda lawyer, and he's never lost a case. He has a beautiful wife name Maryanne, and he's just been offered the deal of his life. He gets the opportunity to move to New York and work at one of the most prestigious law firms in the world, headed up by the charming yet myserious John Milton. The job seems like paradise. But somewhere, the shadow of Satan is lurking.

>Keanu Reeves plays Lomax, Charlize Theron plays Maryanne, and Al Pacino is absolutely terrifying as Milton, in Taylor Hackford's "Devil's Advocate", one of the scariest, most bonechilling horror films ever made.

>Brilliantly written, superbly acted (this is by far's Keanu's best performance to date) and genuinely disturbing, this is by far the best horror film I've ever seen. And it is also the best portrayal of the Devil I've ever seen. It is the most realistic portrayal, which makes it more disturbing than it's meant to be. Pacino is so convincing that you'll never watch another one of his films the same way again.

>"Devi's Advocate" is a must see film. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but if you can handle having the crap scared out of you, then by all means, see this movie.
Very Very SIlly
Keanu Reeves is a smart young defence lawyer, married, the lucky so-and-so, to Charlize Theron down in the sticks of the Southern USA, who never loses a case and gets any number of very bad people off various raps that should have put them way for ever. Next thing he is headhunted by some murky NYC law firm who bury him in tons of money, give him a luxury appartment and ask him to defend some weird voodoo guy who has been nicked for sacrificing a goat swiftly followed by some dodgy zillionaire accused of killing his wife.

>It's basically a retread of `The Firm' but instead of the mafia we have Satan. Which sounds very silly and it is. Keanu Reeves complete inability to act, as ever, doesn't help. No Gene Hackman either though Jeffrey Jones is quite good as the senior partner who is losing it. Pacino's performance is not one of his career high points. But I guess he read the script and thought it was all so thoroughly ludicrous left him with nowhere to go except hamming it up to the max. Which is maybe right. It's faintly amusing. The ending is dumb.
