Customer Reviews of The Crow (Collector's Series Boxed Set)
A Great Crow Collection This boxed set is an excellent edition to any Crow fan's DVD collection. Even though the hour and a half "Crow Chronicles" is indeed missing from the first film "The Crow," there still are plenty of extras. You get to see some of the early poster concepts, many of which are cooler looking than most out today. You get to see the storyboard of the mysterious Skull/Ghost Cowboy, the convient store robbery, and a couple others scenes. The extended scenes, including the shoot out at Top Dollars, are awesome. And while it isn't quite an hour and a half long, there still is a short documentary on the film. The movie itself, which is presented on a disk seperate from the extras, has excellent picture and sound quality, leaps and bounds over my old video tape. The City of Angels DVD is not quite as cool as the first, but there are still some cool extras. The picture quality again is great, as is the sound quality. Salvation is the latest installment to the Crow films, and well worth a look. While it seems to be an elongated version of an episode from Stairway to Heaven (The Crow television show), it is still a fresh take on The Crow. The short film on the birds that played in the trilogy is neat to look at as well. The DVD menus are some of the coolest ones I've seen. They aren't as interactive as some, but they are beautifully done. Definately worth it if you are a fan of any of the films. Plus, you get a commemorative booklet. Not too shabby. Five stars to any Crow fan, without a doubt.
The Crow Movies in One Easy To Carry Box
Okay, lets just take this sucker movie by movie, shall we?
THE CROW--- Easily the best of the three. If you watch all three in a row actually, this one actually improves in your memory, even though its pretty close to flawless the first time. Alex Proyas has an expert hand in direction(which he also showcases in the excellent "Dark City"), the script is tight and inventive, and Brandon Lee's performance is, quite simply, perfect. It really is too sad that he died shooting this movie, because he would have been star after this. In a sad way though, he really was. 10/10
THE CROW: CITY OF ANGELS--- Its not as bad as a lot of people say, but its not great either. As a matter of fact, it pretty much bathes in its mediocrity. The set deisgns, done by the same guy who did the first one and a lot of the Cure videos, is impressive, and the mood is appriopartly moody. The plot isn't half bad, but the direction is pretty much none existant, leaving the actors pretty much to fend for themselves. 6/10
THE CROW: SALVATION--- I didn't have very high hopes for this movie since it went directly to video, so I wasn't dissapointed by what I got. They tried to make a few changes to the formula which was nice, but this movie is so heavy handed that its highly unlikely that you really care. Features Kirsten Dunst of "Spider-Man" fame which is amusing. 5/10
So, should you buy "the Crow" box set? Yeah, you might as well. Just do the math really: the first Crow by itself costs twenty bucks, but the whole box costs thirty. So its pretty much like you buy the first one, and you get the other to for the price of a rental, but you don't ahve to return them. And if you really hate them, you can always sell them used, right?
Good box Set
Good stuff people well lets get down to it
part one was the classic it should be....solid story...acting..action and the like.
part two was..... a sad kind of remake of the first but did not totaly fail but none the less is the worse of the three movies. Poor Sarahs charceter was there for no good reason.
Part three was orginal and very cool......good story......not as good as the first.....but a stand alone film
