Customer Reviews of Take a Look in the Mirror
Great, but not REALLY great "Take A Look In The Mirror," Korn's newest album, is my fourth favorite Korn CD, but that doesn't make it bad at all! It delivers a mix of all of their previous work, but it's not totally similar to any one of the ealrier CD's. If that makes sense to you, then you'll also understand the greatness of this album. The songs on it and my reviews for each:
1) Right Now (10/10): A great intro, and one of the best songs on the album.
2) Break Some Off (8/10): This song is pretty good, but it's a little short.
3) Counting On Me (7/10): Not really a big fan of this song. It starts to drag near the end.
4) Here It Comes Again (10/10): A nice opening guitar riff. This song is pretty slow and melodic and not as heavy as most, but it's still really good.
5) Deep Inside (9/10): A little short, but still pretty good.
6) Did My Time (10/10): The beginning is really good, as are the guitar riffs and vocals. Nice chorus. Overall, one of the best songs on the album.
7) Everything I've Known (7/10): Definitely not one of my favorites. It's an O.K. song, but I just never really got into it.
8) Play Me (1/10): A worthless piece of junk. The only reason I gave it any stars is because the first 30 seconds or so are all right, but it just goes down hill from there.
9) Alive (10/10): After hearing the dissappointing "Play Me," this song is a huge relief. It's my favorite on the CD, and everything about it is perfect, and I especially like the chorus.
10) Let's Do This Now (10/10): This song has the greatest chorus on the entire album! The bagpipes in the beginning sound pretty funny.
11) Y'all Want A Single (10/10): One of the best songs on the album. It's pretty funny, and the guitars are excellent.
12) I'm Done (9/10): I usually skip over this song, but it's still really good.
13) When Will This End (9/10): This song is pretty good. The drumming is great, along with the chorus. Since the CD is only about 45 minutes long, this doesn't seem like it's the last song.
BONUS TRACK: One (10/10): This starts out with drumming and cheering, which leads to really good guitars and bass, and an overall great song.
All in all, Korn has shown that they are still the leaders of the so-called "nu-metal" pack. This is a great CD, and every Korn fan should have it!
Possibly Korn's Best Album
First, I'd like to state that I own their debut and it's good, no doubt, but this album just kicks ass even above the debut. In fact, the reason why I mentioned it is because this album reminds me alot of their old stuff. Songs like Counting On Me and Did My Time really reminded me of Faget, Blind, and Lost. The lyrics I definately aren't as good but this album is much heavier.
Songs:
Right Now: A song you'll love but eventually get sick off. The rift is amazing and but i kinda had trouble hearing the bass, which is one of Korn's best aspects. 8 out of 10
Break Some Off: Short and sweet, kinda has a Static-X vibe. 5 out of 10.
Counting On Me: Slow at parts but definately one of the best Korn songs I've ever heard. It's got almost perfect guitar and drum parts too. 10 out of 10.
Here it Comes Again: A song that has it's moments but is better when you're listening to the entire album at once. 8 out of 10.
Deep Inside: Worst song on the album by far. It just didn't have any flow, but it really depends on what type of metal fan you are.
Did My Time: Perfect! best Korn song besides Faget ever. It just has perfect vocals and a near perfect guitar. The 7-string is hard to hear though, but it really doesn't matter. 10 out of 10.
Everything I've Known: It's amazing after listening to Did My Time, but it's kinda like a really heavy Linkin Park song or maybe a SOAD song gone horribly wrong. Still Great! 9 out of 10.
Play Me: Sucks, it's the worst Korn Rap/Metal song. Children of the Korn makes this look awful. 5 out of 10.
Alive: If you are just getting into metal you'll love it, not for hardcore fans. 9 out of 10.
Let's Do This Now: It's a fight song, no doubt. The first time I heard it I started breaking stuff in my room. Great bagpipes. 9 out of 10.
I'm Done: The slow therpy rock song ever metal band has now. Too standard. 7 out of 10.
Y'All Want A Single: Yes, yes i do. Very original and kinda funny, still got edge to it. 7 out of 10.
When Will This End?: Great finishing song. 7 string jammed all the way through. Great lyrics too. 10 out of 10.
Secret Track: An amazing version of the song ONE by metallica, it was covered well, but I perfer the original. 9 out of 10.
This album didn't blow me away, but it is great metal.
BEST KORN CD EVER!!!!
THIS IS THE FINAL EVOLUTION OF KORN AND IS THE BEST PRESENT DAY SOUND OF ROCK, HEAVY METAL OR NU-METAL (WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT). THE OLD HATFUL MEMORIES OF JOHNATHAN DAVIS FROM HIS CHILDHOOD HAVE BEEN SHED TO SHOW A NEW MORE DARKER SIDE OF KORN THAT IS MORE INTUNE WITH TODAY. KORN FOREVER!!!!!!!
