Amazing! Dozens of Applications This video is an excellent end to the series and I can't recommend it any higher. There is further training for all of the patterns, Circle, Rotating and Wrap-Coiling where you learn how to change directions. This can be utilized in your Tai Chi form, Sparring, or in Pushing Hands extensively. There are more difficult patterns taught where you work with the ball on a table, on the wall, on the edge of a block, and even on the tip of a razor sharp sword or something. All of this training heightens your sensitivity and ability to feel, or 'listen', to the movement of the ball and stay attached, which is later applied to attaching to an opponent.
There are freestyle applications where you play with the ball and create various combinations of patterns on the table, on your body, etc, while keeping it in control. Eventually, there are Partner Çompetitions where you attempt to grab the ball from someone using all of these techniques. Dr. Yang tells a story about seeing these Tai Chi Ball matches a lot when he was a youth in Taiwan, but now noone trains with a ball anymore. Thanks to Master Yang for making this training available. I hope to find a partner and keep this as a part of my regular Tai Chi training.
