The story makes no sense. The viewer never learns why the Seki or the rival Himiko Ninja desire the Ginryu Sword. An extended sequence depicting lesbian sex and opium use never pays off; neither does the duel between noble Kazuma Utsuki and a paid assassin. But the minimal plot is only there to connect the sword fights. When Utsuki comments, "The scent of death is in the air," he's not kidding. For hard-core fans of anime swordplay and violence only.
Unrated, but graphic depictions of violence, violence against women, sexual encounters, drug use, and drinking are unsuitable for children. --Charles Solomon

A rip-off of ninja scroll When I bought this movie I was expecting to see an anime of quality comparable to Ninja Scroll (the best anime ever!). When I watched through the movie I was very disgusted I had bought it. It had many pointless scenes and most of the characters you never see again after one scene. As for the combat (the box says "best ninja fighting action since ninja scroll") it was mainly just still frame paintings with a moving camera. There is so much blood and gore that I actually felt sick, something that has never happened to me from a movie. One last thing, for 30 bucks I expected more than 47 minutes!
Unfinished gold
Ive never really been interested in anime until i watched this movie. Once i previewed it i had to watch it again and again. Ive probably watched it so many times its been permanently burnt into my subconscious. Some of the scenes dont seem quit right to me though, unfinished if you will. You never find out what happens to Togan the invincible on the roof. And what was with that dude in the final scene with all the naked woman on him? My suggestion is find it, watch it, then watch it again. If you dont find it as interesting as i did, at least you'll get some knew ideas on the different uses of opium.
waste of money
in case you haven't figured it out...Sword For Truth is absolute [garbage]. It has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. You want anime with swordplay? Get Ninja Scroll, or Rorouni Kenshin. You don't have to look far to find better. I wouldn't accept Sword for Truth if I got for free. It's that bad. I suggest that you spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
