Customer Reviews of Swing Trading with Oliver Velez
Somewhat Disappointing Despite the raving reviews regarding this tape, I found it not to be as good as all the hype. I was expecting a longer session. It was just too short. Mr. Velez is a great speaker, who only gave small snippet of information regarding his methods. I was under the impression that this tape was a full seminar. No such luck. It was like a tease to get someone to buy his full, workshop for thousands of dollars. For the most part, it was extremely basic, covering investing material (What is a trend? And ,What are candle stick charts?) which is readily available at most FREE financial sites. Half the time the charts weren't shown as he discussed them. I did however, come away with a miniscule piece of the "swing trading pie" (a $50 piece), which may, or may not be helpful in future trades. In fact, with incomplete information, my trading may be at more risk. Hey, you get what you pay for. Buyer beware!
Highly Recommended for beginners
The charismatic Oliver Velez packs a lot of great fundamentals about swing trading for the curious or beginners into this video. This is the video I would give a friend wanting to know more about swing trading. Velez explains basics about the psychology of the market, candlestick chart reading (he recommends Chris Nison's book, which you should buy and study study study), set-ups, and why he prefers technicals over fundamentals for swing trading.
For those wondering, swing trading differs from the classic day-trading in that in day-trading you rarely hold a stock even overnight. Day-trading is fast paced and goes minute by minute--or even second by second. In swing trading you generally hold a stock for 2-5 days. It is an alternative to both classic day-trading and long term buy-and-hold strategy. If you have been disillusioned by long term buy-and-hold strategy, especially after the recent bear market, you may want to consider swing trading as an alternative. This video is a good introduction to swing trading methods.
TRULY BENEFICIAL TO TRADERS
Velez starts by showing the difference between the various types of day trading methods and then shows how to apply his techniques in the Swing trading fashion. His examples truly helped me apply what I learned the next trading day. I've watched this tape numerous times, and I always gain an additional nugget out of seeing it again. Because of the high price, I bought it from the "used" vendor and it turned out that the vendor gets his lower priced ones directly from the distributor--so it was brand new. In addition, you can download written materials that go along with the tape which really make it a great value. Along with Velez' Swing Trading, I also recommend CORE TRADING and MICRO TRADING--which I also bought. To Mr. Velez, I want to say a tremendous "Thank You" for your lucid and concise presentations!
