Customer Reviews of Sure 'N Secure Double Bedrail
Not as bad as I thought it would be! I initially intended to buy a set of double-sided rails that had the ability of releasing one side down for ease of making the bed. After getting to the store and my first choice not being available I then went to another store and saw these bed rails. After getting home with the product, putting it together, and positioning it under the mattress did I realize neither rail let down. I should have read the box better. As far as the assembly went, I thought it was pretty easy. I admit that I did have a little bit of trouble with the top rail and center rail going together. Thank goodness for a sturdy floor to bang them against. That was the most trouble I had, it only took about 30-45 minutes to assemble and that was while watching TV and having to gather the parts from all over the room which my 15 month had been playing with. I would recommend this product for sure, but I would point out that the rails do not let down because that was a major influence for me. I probably would not have bought them had I realized this, but now that they are in place my little girl loves her "big girl bed". And I love the stress-free nights of wondering if the pillows will hold her in and not smother her. Thank goodness it was only a few nights of that stress.
Good product. Nightmare assembly(especially instructions)!
Ok, so after it's all done and you've spent hours assembling this product, it is great. I seriously spent 2 hours assembling this bed rail and by the time I was done, had one very tired, grumpy little boy. I love that it has 2 side rails and that they can be loosened and tightened with ease for changing sheets. It is very sturdy and seems very safe.
So here's the nightmare and some helpful tips. They tell you to assemble the top support, then put the cover on, then do the center support - well, you have to remove the cover to attach the center support - dumb. Also the top and center pieces are VERY hard to slip together. This is not an east 1-person job. Get some help. I badly bruised my hand banging the two pieces together.
Next there's a piece that attaches the top and middle to the bottom rail. It is not as pictured in the instructions so be sure that the long side is up or the cover will not fit correctly. Then they instruct you to assemble the bottom pole and slip it through a bunch of sleeves that hold the rail tightly together once the bottom pole is attached. Don't assemble the bottom rail until you've put the straight end of each bottom pole through the sleeves - much easier - then snap the bottom pole together while inside the sleeves. Also be sure that all joints(it's a male to female hole and button assembly on the poles) point inward towards the bed or the bottom pieces will not attach correctly and you'll have to take the dang rails apart.
Again, It is a wonderful product once it is assembled. It should come pre-assembled or the instructions should be greatly modified.
THE SECRET TO THE ASSEMBLY
I was having trouble with the connector tube spring-loaded button being on the wrong side of the rail when I went to assemble the front bedrail.
I realize now that I went wrong in Step 7 (...orient one of the connector tubes...). There are actually TWO DIFFERENT TYPES of connector tubes (two of each). The instructions should have made this crystal clear...it would have reduced my frustration level considerably.
Two of the tubes have a spring-loaded button at the TOP and then another spring-loaded button on the lower LEFT side. The other two have the spring-loaded button at the TOP and another on the lower RIGHT side. You'll need to install one from each set on each fabric assembly.
NOTE: Just as you did in Step 4, make sure that the Summer Infant logo on the fabric cover is on the opposite side of the spring loaded buttons.
I hope this helps.
I rated this 2 stars because of the nightmare assembly. Now that the rails are (finally!) assembled, we really like how they function. With better instructions and/or easier assembly, I'd probably have rated this with 3 or 4 stars.
