Customer Reviews of Superchunk: Crowding Up Your Visual Field
Excellent DVD This dvd is well orchestrated. The videos are very creative to have such low budgets. my favorites are the "throwing things", "mower", "package thief", and "watery hands" video, ("watery hands" features david cross and janeane garofolo).
The Quest For Sleep section is a documentary of their 2001 fall tour. Some of the scenes are hilarious and bascially show what the band does on stage and off. Jon Wurster is hilarious. It was a four-week tour that took place in Japan, the U.K., and the U.S. Mac said it felt like "two months".
The rest of the stuff is bonus footage featuring an interview from mac and jon, five songs from their first show, homemade videos from mac and other people, and other live footage (including a version of "phone sex" with annie hayden on third guitar).
What's the obsession with milk?
Did anybody else notice that a few videos contain the imagery of somebody drinking milk? No doubt an inside joke by those clever folks of Superchunk.
Great DVD filled to the brim with fascinating info and great music. This is one of America's greatest bands, and they get better with age. May the Chunk keep rocking 'til death do them part!
IF MTV HAD GUTS
. . . they would have let the world in on some great videos from one of college radio's quintessential bands. True to their low-fi, anti-rock star personna, Superchunk blasts through some 'Chunk classics like Throwing Things, Precision Auto and Package Thief in video shorts and bootleg concert cuts. The Watery Hands video, featuring comedians Janeane Garofalo and David Cross, is particularly amusing. Another reminder of just how much this band [still] rocks.
