Customer Reviews of Super Mario All-Stars
Awesome compilation game, certainly worth buying ...In 1994, Nintendo released Super Mario All-Stars, a compilation game. The game had four individual games on one cartridge - Super Mario 1, 2, 3, and Lost Levels. Read on for some PROS and CONS for this title.
PROS
-Four awesome games on one cartridge
-Games have revamped graphics and sound
-You can save your progress in any game, meaning you can play almost any level any time you want, provided you've gotten there at least once
-We finally get the ORIGINAL SUPER MARIO BROS 2! It's here under the name Lost Levels (read my Super Mario Bros. 2 NES review for all the details on this)
CONS
-Don't get me wrong, I like the revamped graphics, but I would've liked to also see the unadulterated originals. These updated graphics detract from the nostalgia value
-The Lost Levels is the only completely new game for American players. If you have the three NES Marios already, you probably won't get as big a kick from this game as someone who has never played them before
Overall, this game (or is it games?) is excellent. If you own a Super Nintendo, this is a worthwhile buy - enough said.
Great collection of classics
Super Mario All-Stars is a great update of the regular Nintendo classics that took the world by storm. It has Super Mario Bros. 1, 2, 3, and they have a game that is the same as Super Mario Bros. 1 except that it's a lot harder, The Lost Levels. That's a total of four classic Mario Bros. games all in one cartridge. Super Mario All-Stars updated the graphics of all the games to Super Nintendo quality, which is a lot better than the originals. The games are just as fun as they've always been, the sound is a little bit better, and the control isn't perfect, but it's good enough so that it's not frustrating. All the games have 4 slots that will save your games, whether it's 1 player or 2 player, and you can erase them or play them as you please.
Pretty much, if you liked playing the classic Mario Bros. games for the regular Nintendo, you'll definitely like Super Mario All-Stars. I recommend anybody who has a Super Nintendo to get this game.
Woah! This Rules!
This is the best game ever! I don't like 3D games that much, I am mostly in the 2D platform era, cuz I was born into that! I wish this had the 8-bit gfx from the classic Mario games, that would be nice. It is pretty much like the classic SMB1 (I have it on my gb) I love Mario games, it is a "Legacy in Games" (I made that up.) youll most likely enjoy this, especialy if you're a grown-up that happens to have a SNES and misses the Mario games. This text is actually referring to Super Mario Allstars+ Super Mario World.
