Customer Reviews of Summer Storm
If you love Indian Romances you will LOVE this one I highly recommend this book...you will not be able to put it down. Seriously in order to read this book properly you will need a box of Klinex tissue and a quite place with no interuptions. Summer Storm is one of the best romance novels EVER written...Catherine Hart really outdid herself with the sequil to Silken Savage
ONE OF THE WORST BOOKS I READ....
Honestly speaking, I really expected more from this novel than anything. I read another book of Hart's and I honestly think this writer is beyond talented. She definitely knows how to give her characters life. However, this book really disappointed me. I really hated the fact that Jeremy and Summer had to part. Windrider's OK although he doesn't fall in with the "regular" kind of heroes that we as a historical romance reader, are used to. I fell in love with Jeremy and that's who I wanted her to end up with me. I absolutely hated the ugly twists and turns Hart takes us to unite them. Usually, as a romance reader, we're not subjected to that kind of prose, but there are other factors that are separating the lead hero and heroine, not the fact that she goes to another guy, bears his children, and instantly goes back to her first love. I absolutely hated this novel. I do not even recommend borrowing this novel, let alone buying it, absolute waste of time and emotions.
An Enjoyable Read
This is the story of a girl named Summer Storm, who is born to a Cheyanne father and white mother. She is betrothed to Windrider as a child of three. For the first few years of her life, she is raised as a cheyanne, but when the tribes are forced on the reservations, she and her family move to a ranch and live (for the most part) a non-Indian life.
As a child, Summer falls in love with Jeremy, who becomes a veteranarian. As she grows up, he falls in love with her, but is afraid to commit because he is thirteen years older. In an attempt to make him jelous, she begins seeing Roger, a real jerk, who is prejudice against Indians. She makes the mistake of defending Windrider to him, inadvertantly agreeing to honor their engagement in the process.
This is where I get a little upset, because you see, as soon as she says it (even though Windrider is not present) she Must marry him, no exceptions. No matter that she loves someone else, and despises the cheyanne way of life and the thought of living on a reservation. Her parents make her go through with it anyway, without a thought for their daughter's happiness.
Of course, after a lot of desperate courting, Windrider does make Storm fall for him. And of course she comes to love their way of life and makes him a perfect wife. Meanwhile, Jeremy is haunted with regret over the love he let get away, but resolves to be good friends to both she and Windrider.
Since the ending has already been given away, I can tell you that Windrider is killed and she falls back in love with Jeremy. I'm actually glad it happened that way, as I really thought it unfair they were separated in the first place. Anyway, it is a good book that can be read for more than just the romance.
