Customer Reviews of Suikoden Demon Century (Japanimation) / Subtitled
YIKES! Sometimes, anime is just bad. It doesn't happen often, but nobody can bat a thousand every time. "Suikoden" suffers not only from your standard anime cliches (which I can deal with), but also a DECIDED lack of story and characterization that I'd never expect from an anime. The dubbing is pretty horrible, both the voices and the delivery (or lack thereof). Maybe it's my fault for renting the dub (that's all my local Blockbuster had), but I doubt even the original Japanese language version was THAT much better.
Usually, there is SOMETHING I can recommend about an anime, but I'm at a loss here. Stupid story, zero characterization, boring martial arts, unfunny script...that about covers it all, doesn't it?
Comedy, martial arts, guns, and explosions
The setting for this brief but extremely entertaining anime is the over-used future vision of the metropolis of Tokyo being crime plagued and controlled by ruthless gangs. The most prominent of these gangs is the Koryukai Criminal Organization. The plot surrounds a Chinese legend about 108 fallen warriors being reborn to fight the forces of darkness once again, but focuses on six of them.
This OVA's main character is a cute, young, street fighter named Takateru Suga (formerly Soko Kohogai in his past life). He was sent by his father to find his younger sister who ran away from home. His travels take him to a bar and this is where he meets two people that his destiny is linked with. These two people are Ryo Hamura a mercenary, and Miyuki Mamiya a beautiful cross-dressing martial artist. Later on in the flick, Takateru comes in contact with the foul activities of the Koryukai and a few other people whom his destiny is linked with who want to put an end to the Koryukai. These people are a Catholic priest named Michael Owen, a nun, and a handsome cop named Takayuki Kurihara.
The dub version of this OVA is sooo funny that it transforms an average story into something greater. Most of the people's voice actors fit the characters personalities perfectly. The interaction between Takateru and Mikyuki is soo cute and funny. Also the scene with Ryo singing in the shower is a barrel of laughs. Plus the fight scenes are well choreographed and fun to watch. I really, truly wish that there were more parts to Suikoden. It deserves to be continued.
Tight Movie
It was an Tight movie and since i got it i keep watching it over the legand of Suikoden always interested me and i think its cool they made a animie out of it. The plot development was great and its action sequences rocked only thing it need is a sequal.
