First release
Finally, after many years, "STYX I" has been released on CD. This version lacks the original cover, but at least it is finally on CD. This is far from their best, even far from the best of the Wooden Nickel releases. Best tracks are "What Has Come Between Us", "Best Thing", and "Children of The Land". This is a must have CD for a Styx lover, if not just to see the differences in the style of music. I believe "Children Of The Land" is also an ELP song. not for everyone, but for the Styx collector. Anyone else wanting to casually hear old Styx, stick with "Best Of"

Their best, period
This IS their best album. Their first album. After that they got sucked into the downward spiral of pop-rock mediocrity. Never again to be as experimental or progressive. You might like this album even if you think you hate Styx, the stadium rock/power ballad Styx, anyway.

Don't buy this GREAT album
This is a must NOT for Styx collectors unless you already have "Styx". This isn't the "Styx" album, it is "Styx I". What's the difference? When RCA was committing atrocities like changing the name of "Styx II" to "Lady" and redoing the cover art for re-release, they did the same to this one. Instead go to NEHRecords.com and buy "Styx" with the correct cover art. This cover at had nothing to do with Styx, and was designed LONG after they had broken ties with "Wooden Nickel". It is a GROSS misrepresentation to call this the "Styx" album on this site. If you're just after the music, GREAT, buy it here - The tracks are the same. If you want a reproduction of the actual art intended by the artist, this is not the one. True Stygians know what I mean. The album itself shows the groups real diversity. It is mostly cover tunes because Wooden Nickel would not allow them to release an all original album intitially. (Who was the [person] who couldn't see the writing talent of Curulewski and DeYoung?) An AMAZING piece of Stygian history
