Customer Reviews of Stranger in Town
Don't be a stranger, this is one of Bob's best While "Night Moves" might get the edge as Bob Seger's best album, "Stranger in Town" might actually be a more consistent collection of songs. From the opening classic of heartbreak in La-La land "Hollywood Nights," to the superb breakup ode that closes the album "The Famous Final Scene," there is not a bad song in the mix. Other classic Seger performances here include the overplayed "Old Time Rock and Roll," and the excellent ballads "Still the Same" and "We've Got Tonight." Bob also rocks on "Feel Like a Number" and "Ain't Got No Money." This is an excellent album that deserves to be in any classic rock fan's collection.
The unsung hero makes another amazing album!
Bob Seger, the unsung hero of American rock and roll, who is finaly being let into the rock and roll hall of fam eafter all this time made one of the greatest albums in rock history with Stranger In Town. Many conceder this to be Bob Seger greatest album but I on the other hand think that title goes to Night Moves, but thats just me. This is a much more lush-album with keyboards and more even softer ballads.
The album starts of with one of Bob's biggest hits and one of his all time best songs 'Hollywood Nights' its a great up tempo rocker, and has a warm summer feel to the song. 'Still The Same' is one of my all time favorite songs, its a really great ballad, deffinatly one of Segers best ballads. 'Ol Time Rock And Roll' what can I say its the theme song to me life. 'Till It Shines' is one of Bob's more underrated songs and I think it is actualy one of his best. 'Feel Like A Number' one of my all time favorite songs and my favorite on the album, when ever I hear it, it reminds me of my father because he is a Truck driver and thats what the song is about. 'Aint Got Know Money' is all right but nothing to special there. 'We've Got Tonite' is a great ballad that always reminds me of my parents. 'Brave Strangers' and 'The Famous Final Scene' are both great rock songs, and are a perfect way to end the album.
Stranger In Town, is one of the greatest albums of all time, and in my openion Bob Seger's second best, right behind Night Moves. If you like good American rock and roll then you will love Bob Seger and this album.
Easily his best
BOB SEGER ROCKS!!!!! I can't think of anyone better (except maybe Jackson Browne) to be honored with an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, class of 2004. It's just a shame it didn't happen sooner. I have listened to this album almost every day since its release, and I never tire of it. In addition to the obvious classics "Old Time Rock & Roll" and "Hollywood Nights", every single song on this album is masterful and speaks to basic human instincts, needs, and desires. The album is about the passion of youth, it is about the beauty and wisdom of aging, it is about the longevity of classic rock. My only complaint is that I haven't heard Bob sing these songs live in a very long time.
