Customer Reviews of Straight for the Heart
learning to interact with life In summary, a photographer is thrown in crisis as he begins to see himself as others do; life on the other side of the camera has sheilded him. Matthias Habich plays a photographer, living happily with his two lovers, a man and woman. On assignment he witnesses rebels murder a young boy -- which he photographs -- then, is accused by the watching mother as being the assassin. Confused, he has to begin to examine the role he plays in recording the violence. Would the guerrillas/military have shot the youth if he had not been there with camera to record it? Arriving home, he finds his lovers have left him for a life together. As he searches for answers, we see flashbacks in his youth of haunting images, watch him photograph stark images of the decaying city he lives. Along his fall, he meets who could be the right man in his life, at the wrong time, when he isn't looking for love. A visually memorable movie (so many stark images with the beauty of the film), and emotionally paced film as well. A performance by counter-tenor James Bowman highlights the stripping down to his emotional being. (believe its from Stabat Mater) I'd give this film ten stars.
