Do not buy this
This product is CRAP. We had the version from one step ahead and my husband took it apart to wash it and lost one piece, we couldn't find another one so we bought this version. It has been a pain from the first day. Difficult to set up, never held together well and my 21 month old has pulled it apart more times than I can count. There is also no good way to keep it clean.

Essential safety device
This product is by no means perfect, but it is an essential childproofing device. It is not made for using the stove unsupervised with children nearby. Yes, it comes apart easily, and mine gradually warped over time, and I have to buy another one. It does protect fingers and hair from a gas stove flames, and prevents burns. Use this product as well as stove knob covers and an oven door lock to make your kitchen a much safer place for your child.

Not safe
I bought this for my then 18 month old son initially it was great, but now he is 2 and ALWAYS takes it apart and hides the pieces in drawers around the kitchen, he can take it completely apart and put it back together again, not to mention one bump and the whole things comes falling down. I would not recommend this if you actually are trying to keep your child from the stove top. I have started just cooking on the back burners and still find the pieces in drawers.
