Customer Reviews of Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot (Spanish) / Subtitled
...Stallone and Getty's chemistry is the worst since Stallone and Parton! Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot is a comedy directed by Roger Spottiswoode (Turner And Hooch) and starring Sylvester Stallone (Rocky), Estelle Getty (TV sitcom The Golden Girls), and JoBeth Williams (Poltergeist). <

>Stallone plays Joey Bomowski, an LA cop who gets a surprise visit from his mother Tutti, played by Getty. She's in town to clean up Joey's house, clean up his crumbling love life with his boss Gwen, played by Williams, and clean up the city as she partners up with her son to catch some bad guys who were involved in a crime that she is the only witness to. Joey, on the other hand, must deal with his mother showing everybody she meets his baby pictures, washing his gun with water and soap, and feeding him breakfast (the most important meal of the day!) <

>The movie is silly but mildly entertaining. Getty and Stallone's onscreen chemistry is the worst since Dolly Parton and Stallone's duet performance in Rhinestone. However, the film manages to pull some funny moments that you can't resist but laugh to. <

Breakout Role for Stallone
Sylvester really shows some depth in this breakout role. I think he lives with his mom, or something. Anyways, she's quite a character and they get into all sorts of funny situations. Pretty good cinematography. I saw this one through the first-class curtains on a plane. They didn't offer the movie (or headphones) to coach class. Definitely set a good vibe for the flight though.
A "COMEDY" THAT NAVIGATES UNDER THE FLAG OF MEDIOCRITY.
In the early 1990s someone made a huge mistake: someone told Sylvester Stallone that he was a funny guy, someone dare to say that Rambo could make a modern Cary Grant, someone told him that Rocky reminded him / her the lovable, funny Tramp character that Charlie Chaplin portrayed in his glorious comedies. So Sylvester believed that awful lie, and he immediately tried to act "funny". "Oscar" was his first infamous "comedy" movie, and then he tried again with "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot".

>"Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot" is a collection of cliches, stereotypes, unfunny performances, boring jokes, and a 10 page script. I think the movie produced in me a chuckle, but I'm not sure, perhaps Estelle Getty did something worthy of a giggle.

>Anyway, "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot" is not a funny movie, the action sequences are poor, the comedic sequences are not funny at all. I don't know what is funnier: Sylvester Stallone trying to be funny, or the fact that Universal dare to release this movie on DVD.
