Customer Reviews of Steel Angel Kurumi 2 - The Lips of a New Master (Vol. 1)
Just as good as the first This is really really good. I have all 5 of the first steel angel kurumi DVD's and I bought steel angel kurumi 2 as soon as I saw it. Is just as good as the first one. They also upped the lesbian stuff by a factor of 4 from the first one if you like that kinda stuff.
An utter collapse from the first season
Kurumi 2 is a good reason why sequels are dangerous. Like the original Kurumi, this opens with a sleeping Kurumi being awakened by a kiss. The twist is that, instead of a boy, it's a young girl name Nako who activates Kurumi and becomes her master.
The real twist is that, instead of coming up with an interesting storyline that took into consideration the end of the original season of Kurumi and Kurumi's relationship with her first master, the creators of this season decided to have pretty much all the characters be lesbians. That's the extent of the thought that went into this show: Nako's best friend is obsessed with winning her from Kurumi; Kurumi (apparently forgetting who she loved in the first season) is now in love with Nako; Saki eventually shows up and is still in love with Kurumi.
The problem is not so much the orientation of the characters (Saki, after all, is unchanged from the first season); the problem is the evident crassness which went into making them so. The design concept seems to be to engineer situations where as many girls as possible can get undressed and rub against one another. It's just so devoid of purpose or value as to make a mockery of the first season--which, although it had its share of fanservice, was at least interesting, funny, and cute.
Ultimately, all this disc accomplished was make me decide to cancel my preorder for volume 2.
Still very very very Rockin!
The new Kurumi is still way cool, and as loveable so far as the first. A little fan service, but it's minimal and doesn't take away from the humor of the show. All the characters are great, Naoko is sorta like Nakahito but not so shy around Kurumi. And her friend, U-chan, her dad is majorly scary, and not in an evil way, more in a creepy way. Anyway you'll see, so I wont go into detail on all that happens, just buy it and enjoy. Now if only the second came out earlier than Oct I'd be happy.
