Should you choose to accept these daring reconnaissance missions, you'll travel to Panama, England, the Middle East, Venice, and other exotic locations around the world. Each location is rendered with a high degree of realism and provides recognizable landmarks and scenery. Throughout, you're the hunter as well as the hunted, pursued by enemies over land, on water, and in the air. Your mission is to take on NOSTRA, an out-of-control multinational corporation headed by an evil madman who's threatening the world.
As SpyHunter, you must always be ready for heavily armed enemy vehicles that lurk around every corner and strike at the first site of the Interceptor. But you have a steady supply of weapons trucks that load you up with machine guns, missiles, lasers, and counterattack weapons such as oil slicks, smoke screens, and cluster mines. Each successful attack gets you one step closer to revealing who SpyHunter is and what he's ultimately after.
Next-generation 3-D design, explosive weaponry, high-tech defensive mechanisms, and, yes, the car, all combine to offer pulse-pounding speed and strategy.

Customer Reviews of SpyHunter
Solid game, but could be better Everything about this new Spy Hunter looks great, and almost all of it feels right. The car drives well and is clearly focused on arcade action rather than strict racing simulation, making the game very fun to play. But missions usually end just a bit before it feels like they should, especially given the old never-ending nature of the original game. The graphics are beautiful, but it's often easy to lose track of enemies or confuse them with the scenery, and effectively using the rear view mirror and defensive weapons is much difficult enough that most drivers will just stick to the guns. My only other compalint is that the multiplayer mode is locked out until you complete all of the single-player missions, which is a completely unjustifiable mistake. Don't get me wrong, it's a very fun game, but it leaves you with the impression that it's not as much as it could have been.
A Classic Reborn With No Blemishes. WOW!
Midway's new remake of Spy Hunter was for me an entirely unexpected surprise in being that such a classic 2D hit could be this finely recreated on a Next-Generation system over ten years after it's reigning success on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). With such astonishingly fluid speed and responsive controls, Spy Hunter for the PS2 audaciously soars with 14 intensely enjoyable multi-task stages that direct the player to diversify playing techniques, experiment with each stage's impressive interactive-ness, and excessively integrate the player into it's vehicle transforming, high octane action, and emotionally addictive/cerebrally assimilating gameplay.
Though it does suffer from slight redundancy, no isometric (over-the top) view, a car reverse glitch, and an especially short playtime (3 hours for an average player), Spy Hunter sustains its creative bearings, passionate playability and proves unequivocally that great games from the past can be recreated with authenticity, engaging originality, and skill.
Recommended feverishly to any fan of the original game.
Spyhunter rocks
This one of the best PS2 games ever!! Good graphics and storyline, could be better if it had more levels, but that's the only downside. I've just read a review of one star for this saying "you only get one gun" who ever wrote it apparently only played through the training mission, since after that you get upgrades on the gun (10mm to 25mm to 50mm), missles (start with unguided, then guided, and swarm(four at once)), emp(electromagnetic charge-don't get it either, unguided and guided), and rail gun (really powerful and cool laser thing, guided only), and for defensive you've got oil, smoke, and flamethrower to protect your tail end. The extras are a great bonus compared to spyhunter2 which didn't have hardly any and the ruined the spyhunter theme by saliva (see my review for spyhunter2, "12 year old gamer from Hays KS, USA. Anyone who considers themeselves a serious "game king" must beat this before rightfully proclaiming it, I've beat it 3 times in the past weak.
