Customer Reviews of Sport Compact Car
Very good magazine for import/compact tuner fans This magazine is my favorite for its ease of readability, fairly wide coverage (shows, drifting, tuning, extreme high performance cars), and overall quality of presentation. They do a contest each year where they take the best built street/performance cars and pit them against each other for the "ultimate steet car" competition. It uses weighted categories such as acceleration, build quality, "the grandma test" aka, can you get in the stupid car and drive it without being a contortionist, and other things. Well worth the 12 or 15 buck investment for a subscription. <

for the guy that thinks it's "too much"
Your review shows what is so much BETTER about Sport Compact Car when compared to all the typical "tuner" magazines. I own alot of Celicas, but I am not into huge mufflers and lots of graphics. SCC gives real advice on real performance, and as you said, you can LEARN from reading it. If you don't want to learn anything about your car, then you have Super Street and all those other magazines that show import cars with graphics, neons and women with few clothes on to look at. Personally, I think SCC is by far one of the best car magazines there is. Their columns are funny and informative. Yeah, they have lots of tech stuff. Personally, I like to learn things that help me better understand my car and how to properly upgrade it. They also cover motorsports to an extent, and they do extensive tests on items like tires, which is very helpful to those who want the best performance for the best price.

>All I can say is if you prefer the other stuff out there...by all means, subscribe to SS, import, turbo, etc.; but it doesn't make SCC a bad magazine just because they have some real content and depth. Thanks
Best Car Magazine
I'm not particularly interested in the Asian import market but even with that consideration this is still the bets car magazine beacuse of its extensive focus on critical tuning areas; primarily forced induction and suspension.

>The editor of the magazine has recently been replaced (~May '05) and the new editor is promising to deliver and even greater amount of space to popular tech authors such as Coleman and Kojima. I think that is great. Currently (June 05) the magazine is in the midst of a multipart series on suspension design which has been fantastic. In the past they did a fantastic multipart series on engine performance covering blueprinting, forced induction, nitrous oxide and EFI tuning. This series has been republished as a book by Motor Press and is fantastic.

>Another thing that makes this magazine great is its focus on verifying performance of aftermarket accessories at all price levels. This has ranged from testing turbo kits and exhausts to octane boosters.
