Customer Reviews of Special Ops Fitness - Navy SEAL Workout, System 1
Kicked My A___... I have been exercising for a while, but not quite like this dvd. I thought it was a great workout, and I thought while doing the workout, I would be really sore the next day. However, when I awoke the next morning I felt great, like I could beat up 10 tigers. That feeling inspired me to keep going with this workout. I do it 3-4 days per week now and am at the advanced level for most of the exercises. I have learned from this dvd especially while doing the advanced push-up pyramid, to take my mind off the pain, go inside and focus, blotting out pain/exhaustion until I complete the series of exercises. This routine and Mark's words have benefits beyond the actual time spent doing the workout. I feel more confident about life, because I know I can push myself when necessary beyond my comfort zone. There are some nights (I excercise at night) when I don't feel like going through the routine, but I have learned to take action in spite of my feelings and once into the workout I am glad I went ahead and did it. I reccomend this dvd highly. I do have a couple of suggestions for the next dvd if Mark Delisle happens to read this Amazon review. (These are why I gave it 4 stars and not 5). 1) Have a place on the menu to skip ahead from the beginners (and intermediate) push-up pyramids to the advanced. Why? Because if you have worked your way to the advanced pyramid, it takes too long just to watch the beginner and intermediate pyramids and you start to cool down a little, I fast-forward through it now, but a menu item would be more convenient. 2)I really like the 30 second countdown clock between exercises, but it need to be used more consistantly, e.g before the first set of dips. I have been caught a few times, not ready for the next exercise, because I was used to having the clock tell me when to get into position, and there was no clock. 3) Sometimes Mark makes remarks to the his students during the exercise sequence, these remarks have no relevance to people doing the routine who don't know these people personally. Who cares that the young man demonstrating the exercises is in such good shape that he finds it a drag to have to be doing the beginners level to show beginners how to do their exercises? It's his job to help beginners learn how to do this routine. Also, when the intermediates are done with their number of exercises Delisle says "Sara, you're finished." I think it would be better if he said "Intermediates you're finished". These references to his students make the dvd seem a little amatuerish at times. He also during the intermediate push-up pyramid threw off the numbers, because he wanted to make Sara do a couple extra push-ups. Well, that kind of thing just confuses the intermediates who are trying to follow along. I know these are minor gripes, however, and overall the quality is excellent. But I do think it would be a good idea to edit the workouts a little to make sure all the instruction is for the intended audience and not insider comments. Also, when can we expect System 2?

<
>Mark really knows what he's doing! He teaches you how to do it right the 1st time so when you take on the routine you build up to flexibility, strength, and endurance.
<
>plus it helps if you have a hot tub to sooth your muscles too! :)
<
>I've stopped drinking and smoking in order to get in shape using this program and reading his book, I'm no expert, but if I have to quit drinking and smoking in order to get in shape and have this workout routine to keep me going! you do the math!

NS WORKOUT
I like this DVD, and use it several times a week. This is one of the workouts where there is a beginner, intermediate, and advanced version, three people one doing each version. The advanced is somewhat challenging starting with 1 min worth of jumping jacks, and high knee's. Then several minutes of stretching. The workout then begins with dips 40x3 with a short break in between, the short break for endurance makes it difficult. Then pushups using the pyrimyd system, 12-14- to 20, and back. Again with a short break in between sets.
<
>Next is lower body with 40 2 count lunges, mountian climbers, and 300 calf raises. The most challenging one comes next ''The wall'' squating with your back against a wall for 5 min. As the the instructor says, this is a mental challenge, because of the pain after several min, and the boaring nature of it. But again it is challenging. Then finally Abs. This is a killer ab routine consisting of hand to toes 60x3, crunches 60x3, and reverse crunches 30x3. Again with a short rest period between the sets. I just described the advanced version, the other two are itentical with lower reps so you can build up to advanced. Over all a like it, and have seen results. Hope this helps.
