Great 2 in 1!
I bought this for my son when he was roughly 1 month old. He would lay under the gym and watch the lights flash in front of him until he dozed off. I loved the classical music mixed with classis nursery rhymes. I also liked that the hanging toys made the music and piano play when slightly moved. My son had no problem batting at the toys. He liked that he could grab at the hanging toys and they unhooked easily. Once he got to be about 6 1/2 months he started pulling up on the toy so we switched it to the piano. At one year my son still loves the sparkling symphony. The only problem that I have with it is that I wish it was a little more sturdy in the legs. When my son tries to walk with it, it will tip over. We have it up against the wall so this won't happen. Over all, I think it was a great buy!

Great playtoy!
A friend of mine was babysitting my baby daughter when she was 4 weeks old. My daughter became very fussy during the time she was there, so my friend brought out her son's Sparkling Symphony Gym and placed it infront of the carseat my daughter was in, putting the gym on continuous musical play mode. According to the friend, my daughter almost instantaniously stopped crying, carefully watching the dancing lights from the piano keys and listening to the various melodies. So, I immediately went out and bought my daughter the gym.
This toy is very versatile and extremely durable. HOWEVER, I do have a couple of complaints about it. First, in order to "activate" the gym, a child must kick or bat at the hanging objects VERY hard. My daughter is an incredibly strong child, and she has rarely been able to activate the gym on her own. Second, the child isn't given the option to change whatever song is playing whenever he/she wants. Once a song is activated, it doesn't stop playing until it's done. I have seen other toys on the market that automatically change the music whenever a child bats on or kicks at the toy. In my opinion, those toys have a better chance at teaching action/reaction as opposed to the Sparkling Symphony Gym.
Ultimately, though, this is a good product. When on "continuous" play, the gym will go a good 10 minutes of playing various melodies (if only my daughter's crib mobile could do that!). My daughter is also very entertained by this toy which is an accomplishment is you knew my kid. ;) Overall, I say this product is definately worth considering for any child!
