Customer Reviews of Sour Grapes
Something's missing here... This movie looks like a project that took a few hours to concoct, but it actually is worth watching. The humor is fairly well thought out, but you can see the signature humor of the TV show "Seinfeld" all over the place.
I would grade the movie storyline as a "B-", meaning that it's just above average.
One thing that I couldn't help but notice: Steven Weber's delivery is almost exactly the same as Jerry Seinfeld's in many places throughout the film. In fact, I would almost swear that Seinfeld must have done overdubs on the soundtrack. That's how close Weber's tone is to Seinfeld's.
I found the movie to be amusing, but it isn't anything I would want to see again and again.
Not worthy of all the praise.
I think Larry David is a genius...I'm still bemoaning the loss of Seinfeld along with the rest of the fans, and I think Curb Your Enthusiasm is even better. But this movie has very little resemblance to either. Some funny moments that probably would be enhanced without the expectation of a feature length Larry David production. The two main characters, Stephen Weber and Craig Bierko basically lack the requisite angst filled, anxiety ridden neuroses that we've become accustomed too. And neither possesses the ethnic credibility to make this work. It's just not very good, and that's a shame. Give movies another shot Larry-you're fans aren't going anywhere. 2 fillings.
This is a horrible movie
Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm is hilarious. Seinfeld was hilarious. The type of humor in these two successful TV shows simply does not work in a full-length movie. The movie is horrible, the ending is absurd, in fact the whole entire plotline is absurd. Don't waste your time with this film - watch an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm instead.
