colour bars problem I know this 15" monitor is getting a bit long in the tooth now but the problem is caused by a plug & socket connector on the back of the screen coming apart slighty. <
>basically to rectify the problem requires dismantle and rebuild but it only takes a few mins with the right tools. <
>first undo the silver screws in the 4 corners at the back. then pop the clips at 12 , 3 , 6 and 9 oclock using a screwdriver. <
>the light grey front will come away eventually it is held by sticky tape. be careful of the speaker wires at lower front !! <
>the back will come off now. once the tft panel is face down on the deck 4 more screws need to be removed to seperate the metal 'frame' which houses the i/o connectors etc. you do not need to remove the pink wires which run the backlighting for the panel. <
>the tft panel lifts pretty well straight up and a white multi pin connector seperates and becomes visible within the 'frame'. other reviewers mention squeezing the screen at the bot left corner and this is the point where the connector is and helps to squeeze it back together. unfortunately only strip and rebuild like this will fix it permanently. you might as well fix it as it otherwise is a great screen. p.s. i wsuspect the reason sony weren't very helpful with a fix is cause the tft panel and frame combination is actually made by lg/phillips not sony.\but u cant tell this till the covers are off. <

Clean crisp monitor
This monitor has great refresh rates and image quality. Definetley worth it. Game play is awesome.
Avoid like the plague
This screen is a marvel - outstanding colours, much better than any CRT I've owned - much better than my laptop TFT! The sounds is clear and the foot print is a fraction of a CRT. However like many others (that I've read about elsewhere on the net) its suffered the fade to black to white problem. This is a fault with the build, and appears to be receiving little input from Sony as even replacements are faulty!
Buy something else, not this.
