Definitely worth it
I've had 5 PS2s over the years. I bought my first one (large one) on the day of its release, and it ended up having the disc read error problem just over a year later. At first Sony wouldn't help because the warranty had expired, so I temporarily fixed the problem by tweaking up my laser voltage. A year after that I read on the internet that they were repairing that problem as my system was developing the same problem again, so I sent mine in. Apart from being without the machine for 2 months while they repaired it, they took good care of it and it worked like new when it came back. <

Sony Playstation 2 Console Slim is great
We own two PS2 units. One traveled cross country in the back seat of the car in 2002 (over 8000 miles!), and they both work great. They have always been reliable, and there is a great variety of games available to play on them. We have two -- one for me, and one for my son.
