Customer Reviews of Sony PSP Battery Pack
PSP I ordered this item thinking it would make my PSP sessions last a bit longer. Now that I've had it for a few weeks I can say that it does... a little bit. While the time extension isn't huge it does last a bit longer than the standard battery that comes with the PSP. And on the plus side it came in two days, can't beat that!
Not the product shown, false advertisement
The product I received was not the Sony PSP Battery pack, it was an aftermarket battery pack, and of the two that I purchased, only one of them fit, the other was damaged.

PSP Batteries and Accessories
This is the original equipment battery for the Sony PSP. It fits properly and it works properly. The charge capacity should be the same as the one that came with the system. It is my spare. It does what a spare/replacement battery should do. There's no reason not to give the product itself a 5-star rating.

>Now that the actual review is done, I just want to make a comment about the cost of batteries and accessories for the Sony PSP. In my review of the console, I stated that Sony might have priced themselves out of the the handheld system competition. While I do understand that all of the capabilities of the PSP hadrware do not come cheap, as a PSP owner, I am also concerned for the long-term success of the platform.

>In my opinion, there are many reasons why the competition is outperforming the PSP in the marketplace. One of the reasons might be the noticeably higher cost of ownership involved with the PSP system. First of all, I understand that the PSP is a multifunctional machine. It is more powerful, the graphics look better, and has more features than the competition. It is more than fair that the PSP itself should cost more than the competing Nintendo DS. What does not make sense, however, is the reason why the batteries, chargers, and accessories for the PSP should cost significantly more than the DS'. A knowledgeable consumer should be able to understand why one console cost more than the other. And quite frankly, assuming the console can be enjoyed for 3-4 years, the initial cost is negligible. What might bother some consumers is that the difference in cost of ownership will continue for as long as they own both systems, due to the higher cost of batteries and accessories. Is there a reason why the PSP battery should cost almost $15 more than that of a DS battery? Do they last twice as long, be twice as convenient? I think this is one area where the PSP could, and should, do better.

>I am a fan of the PSP system. It is a great technological and engineering achievement. It is without doubt, the finest portable gaming hardware ever developed. It's power and capabilities are unrivalled. Playing games on that gorgeous widescreen is simply breathtaking. Every serious gamer that I know would love to have one. And the price of the games themselves are now equivalent. I think setting a lower price for the batteries and accessories for the system would be a smart move for Playstation. I believe that will eventually happen. And when it does, the cost of ownership for both systems should become more or less equivalent.
