Customer Reviews of Sony Micro Vault Ultra Mini USB 2.0 Flash Drive ( 1GBUSM-1GD/V )
Not a good keychain connection I had this product for about 3 months and I noticed that as I started using it, the connection between the cap that connects to my keychain and the actual drive began to get looser and looser, until one day I looked down at my keys and there was no drive. Just a little cap connected to my keys. <

>Needless to say, If you want to keep your information on your keychain, then this product is not for you. Find a flash drive that has its connection to the keychain on the body of the drive.. not the cap.
Died after a couple of months
This seemed like a great flash drive at first. One day after using it for a couple of months, I thought "Gee, I really ought to back this up since I've heard that flash drives can die suddenly." I should have followed my instinct, but no... I saved a couple of additional files and did a safe removal of the drive. The next time I plugged it in it did not work--no computer could detect it. All that data gone. I replaced it with a SanDisk with USB--much better. (I back that one up frequently.)
Frequent User
I got sony microvault ultra mini 2GB from CompUSA and have been frequently using it for about 2 weeks. I use it only with PC's, so this review might not serve mac lovers.
<
>Pros:
<
>- Has a sweet and sturdy appeal. Also it is lighter than it looks.
<
>- Simple and straightforward to use - plug it in, transfer data and plug it out.
<
>- Though it has a virtual expander software, the user has the flexibility to use it whenever they want. This I believe is unlike the sandisk's U3 software which as per the reviews I read, automatically installs on plugging in the flash drive. Thanks to those who helped me with the sandisk reviews.
<
>- The virtual expander tool works as advertised. It compresses the files ONLY on user request and automatically decompresses them when they are transferred to the pc.
<
>- In absolute terms, it works quite fast for my needs. I cannot talk relative here as I haven't recently used any of the other flash drives.

<
>Cons:
<
>- The price is higher compared to others in the market. This might make sandisk cruzer (WITHOUT the U3 loaded) a better option for those who are not brand, looks and virtual expander freak.
<
>- If you are someone who always needs to carry the drive in the keychain, this is not the one for you as by that you are securing only the cap of the drive. Look on its picture to see what I mean. Remember there is also an advantage of this feature as there won't be a bunch of keys hanging when you put the actual flash drive body in the usb-port.

>Summary: It seems faster, sturdy, good-looking and convinient to use than its competitors. Whether thats worth its higher price tag is something you need to decide.
