Customer Reviews of Sonic Rush
Unplayable and boring I bought this game because I loved New Super Mario and wanted to find another game I found addictive. First of all, this game is for little kids. But I can't imagine anyone enjoying it. It seems like it has no point. Sonic speeds through this "roller coaster" type course that goes so quickly it's not possible to follow. And there is nothing really to do. There is no challenge value, all you do it push the forward button and sonic moves really quickly until he gets to the end of the course or runs out of time. Maybe I missed the point of this game, but I wasted my money on this purchase.
Sonic Rush is great
This game is a lot of fun. It was a little bit harder in places than others but that was fine. Can't wait for the next Sonic game for the DS system.
A Real "Sonic Rush" (by Laura)
This is a lovely game. The music totally rocks! I go to the options sound test menu all the time just to hear "Vela Nova" and "Wrapped in Black". The backgrounds and levels themselves are presented beautifully with bright colors and such. The easier stylus special stages provide great entertainment for me, although the last one (like many other of the final special stages in these games) nearly had me pulling my hair out. There was only one thing I didn't quite understand in this game. Blaze apparently has pyrokinesis powers, or control of fire, so every time she jumps flames surround her. So how, whenever she was underwater, would flames still manage to surround her when she jumped? Last time I checked water put out fire, so I take this to be a tiny design flaw. This was the only flaw I found, however, as everything else seems to be designed perfectly. The bosses are pretty fun, but basic once you get in some practice. However, the extra boss proved to be pretty challenging with Sonic's lack of power, and Blaze's lack of speed. The one major disadvantage I see in this game, compared to the Sonic Advance series, is the lack of playable characters. I mean characters we love, like Amy and Knuckles, play a role in the storyline, and Tails and Cream are even your map partners (they tell you which zone you are about to enter), but only Sonic and Blaze are playable, which can be a letdown if you were expecting Tails' propeller flight or for Knuckles' gliding and climbing abilities. Another disadvantage would be the game's mixed signals. It encourages you to go as fast as you can, yet if you go to fast (like I usually end up doing) you will bump into an enemy robot, or fall down a bottomless pit, which can cause you to squander so many lives before you make it out of the difficult levels. Yes, the levels ARE challenging. You won't make it through the game without some good effort, but trust me you will want to see the endings. My personal favorite ending (even against the extra ending) is the one of Sonic's storyline and the credits thereafter. Trust me on this, it's a hoot! Overall, this game is fun to beat with it's expansive gameplay (I mean for once they even combined 2D with 3D action) and it's upbeat and good enough to dance to music. I recommend this game for anyone who wants fun! Especially Sonic fans.
