Customer Reviews of Sonic Heroes
Probably the best 3-D Sonic game yet! The first Sonic game for GameCube that's NOT a port of a Dreamcast version. There are 4 teams, with 3 characters in each team. There's Team Sonic (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles), Team Dark (Shadow, Rouge, Omega), Team Chaotix (Espio, Charmy, Vector), and Team Rose (Amy, Cream, Big). Each team has a speed, flight, and power character. During gameplay, you control one character from your team, and the other two follow you and attack enemies. You can press the X and Y buttons to change your character. You need different characters to get past different obstacles, such as swinging on a pole as Sonic, breaking rocks as Knuckles, and flying as Tails. Characters can level up (maximum level is 3 per stage) by touching checkpoints, deafeating enemies, or finding level up spheres. At the end of a level, you get a letter (A, B, C, D, or E) depending on your score, rings, and the time you completed the level in. A is the best, while E is the worst. There are 14 (long) levels, and bosses every two levels IIRC. There are also special stages where you have to get a Chaos Emerald. This game also features the return of Metal Sonic! Each team has a different storyline. Also, each team has a 'Team Blast' attack that can be activated by pressing the Z button when the Team Blast gauge is full. The game is quite easy to learn. If you played the Adventure games, this game will be easy to learn. I got a 'B' my first time in the demo, though the final version will probably be harder than the demo. There are also lots of things to unlock, such as a rumored Team Super if you collect all the Chaos Emeralds. Also, Shadow supposedly died at the end of Sonic Adventure 2, so it may be reavealed in this game how (or if) he survied. He has amnesia when you first meet him, so you won't find out too early.
Overall, this will be a great game, which is coming out on January 6th, 2004. Its coming out 2 weeks later for the PS2 and Xbox.
Gameplay better than SA2, but not Storyline
Lets see... To start off, I'd have to say it's a really great game is your a hardcore Sonic fan. Most people would enjoy it. The game play is extremely fun. It's really awesome because you control 3 characters at once. I've already beat the game and now I'm on the mission to get all A ranks. I was like whoa when I found out Shadow was a... never mind! You'll have to beat Team Dark to figure that out.
Pros:
-Fast and extreme gameplay with longer levels
-Camera angle not a bad as SA2
-You get to control 3 characters a once
-Amazing animated cutscenes that make your jaw drop (kinda)
-Omochao doesn't stalk you like on SA2 (Did that bother anyone besides me?)
Cons:
-No chao to add extra fun to the game
-Sometimes bad voice acting (Only encluding Tails, Charmy, and Cream)
-The bosses weren't challenging enough
-They made Team Dark's Robot Storm REEAALLY frustrating (Hehe...)
You should just ignore the Cons since they're really not a big issue.
