Customer Reviews of Sleeping With Ghosts
AMAZING!! Wow!...What an album!.
After all that androgin, glitter-punk rock begining, this got to be the most mature, finest album this english trio has ever made, i mean, Black Market was close, but this is , by far my favorite Placebo Album.
Ok, you wanna best album songs, dont you?...forget it! listen the whole cd and check by yourself the deep lyrics and the balanced sound of the band: Brian's guitar rocks as good as in early times did, drums are pretty good mixed with rhytm machines which, by the way, doesnt suck at all as in some electro-industrial rock crossover bands' albums, bass is simple, straight and smooth. And if you enjoy Brian Molko's provocative nasal voice, you are gonna ask for more.
Maybe Black Market was better accepted than Without You Im Nothing because its mature songs, but believe me, this one sounds like coming from better songwriter musicians.
I dont wanna be pretentious but Sleeping With Ghosts could mean for the band what Songs Of Faith And Devotion meant for Depeche Mode: their highest and finest moment.
Not my thing...
I'll have to say that I was over all disapointed with this cd. This struck me as odd, because I have read so many positive reviews of this album. Then why the sudden aversion? I thought about this for a while, and I realized that customers who loved 'Without You I'm Nothing' also seemed to love 'Sleeping with Ghosts.' If you haven't guessed already, my favorite Placebo tracks can be found on 'Black Market Music.' I like the edgier, harder music while 'Ghosts' presented me with a more mellow sound that much resemebles the style of the tracks that I usually skip on previous cds.
I find that my favorite song on the cd, 'Something Rotten,' seems to be the least liked by most fans. The only other songs I really take the time to listen to are "Protect Me from What I Want' and 'Centerfolds.' I wasn't impresed with either of the two singles from this album.
So if you're a big fan of 'Without you I'm Nothing,' buy this cd. If you're more of a 'Black Market Music," type of person, buy it anyways (because, c'mon, it's Placebo), and listen to it a couple times through before shelving it.
GREAT BAND , GREAT CD
this is a band you either love or hate. i'd always admired them for their originality although i wasn't a big fan... the music on this cd hasn't changed much from the other ones, yet it has something new and more addictive i can't explain! not to mention the videos are better than ever, "special needs" is the most beautiful video i've seen in years...
