Customer Reviews of Single Jogging Stroller - Royal Blue
Works for us! We got this stroller 2 weeks ago and I have been jogging with it every other day since then. Yes, its the lowest priced jogger you can buy, but it works just fine for what its for--jogging. It doesn't have tons of storage, but lets face it, what do you need that for anyway during a jog for an hour or less? Its unlikely your baby or child will need more than a drink/snack during that time, and theres plenty of room for that.
By the way, this is a Baby Trend Expedition, just not the LX model, which only has a couple of upgrades (positionable canopy and child tray) for $40 more. Although the positionable canopy would be nice, an old receiving blanket pinned to the top works perfect to shade my 6 month old from bright sun rays. He LOVES this stroller and falls asleep only minutes after I begin my jog.
A couple of other things:
(1) Beware, the fixed front wheel on ANY jogging stroller is usually difficult for a new user to work with, after getting accustomed to a regular stroller with front swivel wheels. But after only a couple of uses, you will get the hang of it and not think twice about it.
(2) If you are tired of lugging your regular stroller in and out of the car each time you want to use it, consider buying this one to keep "ready-to-go" for walks and jogs at home. We keep our all-purpose stroller (the fabulous Graco Quattro Tour--also a great buy) in the van and it makes life so much easier.
All in all a great stroller for a great price. Only knocked off one star because the straps could be a little easier to adjust but its not a big deal since you don't have to readjust them every time you use it.
Good Stroller for rough terrain
We were given this stroller as a gift when my daughter was born. So, I am not going to complain about it too much. It is great for rough roads. We lived on a long dirt road which is why we needed it. We have never used it for jogging but can see where people might have problems with the steering. It was nearly impossible to steer while walking our dog. The front wheel just does not like to turn unless you lift it off the ground. It is also not convenient for shopping malls. It's too big and bulky and then there is the problem of it not fitting into a trunk or back seat(I tried both with a mid-size sedan and failed). It does have great pockets, a large basket and a parent tray (which was tough to put on)that hold more than everything you'd need. All in all it really depends on what you want to use it for. If you're a jogger you'll probably be happier and more comfortable with one of the more expensive models. I use it for walking (I manage to go for brisk walks on all kinds of terrains quite comfortably), or if we go to a park or other outdoor activity. We have truck as well so transporting it is not a problem. I don't think there is a jogger out there that transports easily in a car. I also own an Evenflo Comfort Dimensions for malls and stores. As well as an umbrella stroller to keep in the back seat of my husbands truck. Lets face it we all own more than one stroller. If your looking for a bargain and don't expect miracles you'll be pleased with this product.
Unmaneuverable - no swivel in wheels
I purchased a Baby Trend Jogging Stroller, model 1720, and found it impossible to turn. Unless you are going straight forward, you cannot move. To turn, you have to physically pick up the back half of the stroller and reposition it a few inches at a time (if your child weighs too much to pull up on the front wheel). For a tiny infant, you will get by until the baby grows. I called Baby Trend's customer support line, and they said that all Baby Trend jogging strollers are made without the ability to swivel and turn to add controllability to the unit. This is my 3rd child and 4th stroller, and I can tell you that not being able to maneuver it will make it the last thing you reach for when you are transporting your child. An umbrella stroller without a cupholder is actually more convenient if you want to move freely.
