Customer Reviews of Singer 4830 32-Stitch Function Sewing Machine
it's good until you need it fixed i really liked this machine until my needle clamp went awol during a move. since this is a mass-marketed low-end machine, singer does not market replacement parts for it, and nobody's willing to help. my local sewing store has a lot of machines lying around for parts; that's my only hope at this point. caveat emptor.
Great for Beginners
This is the first sewing machine that I have ever used.I decided to purchase this machine after comparing prices, features and reading reviews.I took my time and read the instruction booklet that came with it.There have been times that I have been frustrated cause the thread breaks, the stitches get stuck under the bobbin, the thread bundles up, I incorrectly wound up the bobbin.Gosh, it sure takes patience to get familiar with the machine especially if one has never used one. After trials and errors I learned that its important to read each and every word and follow all the steps in the book and use the right foot, stitch width, tension, etc...All I can say for those that are having difficulty please read and reread all of the information in the book and have patience...I have mended pants, made a blanket, taken in seams.Buying this machine has been a good choice its sturdy and stitches well. Its better than what I expected after being told by my mother that a newer Singer Machine does not compare to the old ones that are over 30 years old. My mother refuses to buy an electric machine but I'm hoping to convince her to get one like mine.
Great Machine For the Money
I got this machine for my birthday. It works great. I have'nt had a single problem at all, I've made a quilt and some puppets and some stuffed animals. It handled several layers of denim great too. It's a workhorse!
