Customer Reviews of Silent Scream
It's about time! I found this release on cassette in the bargain bin back in the late 80's, (proceeded to wear it out), and was glad to see that they finally released it on CD. I guess this didn't do as good as their earlier releases but I can't figure out why. This particular CD has a unique flavor to it with alot of keyboards but still drives the point home. Gary West's vocals are awesome and there's some very good song writing here. If you're a Shooting Star fan and haven't heard this one, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.
Shooting Star Silent Scream-Masterpiece!
I'm so glad this CD is back in print. I wore out the cassette of this years ago from playing it to death in the 80's. There isn't a bad song on this album. Ron Nevison did a great job producing this album. This one of my favorite hard rock albums. Don't Stop Me Now is mind blowing. Summer Sun was the hit off this CD but there should have been many more if more people knew about this band. This CD was one of the best of the 80's by far.
Shooting Star's poofy hair phase
This cd starts off strong with Summer Sun, Somewhere In Your Heart and Heat Of The Night, but soon lapses into tired sounding filler. Summer Sun was one of the great "shouldabeen" songs of the summer of 1985, but despite occasional airplay, it never really caught on. Too bad. Maybe with a hit Gary West would have chosen to stay with the band. Now all we have is Shooting Star part II, a pale and poor substitute. This one is worth it if you find it cheap because the first three songs make a great addition to a career retrospective, plus there is the addition of the previously unreleased songs from the "Up The Creek" soundtrack. Get Ready Boy isn't great, but it was a pretty decent soundtrack song.
(Oh yeah, and for a laugh, check out the band picture on the back cover. Can any of you honestly say that this was a good look?)
