Customer Reviews of Shirley Valentine
Finally on DVD in the US with original UK English! I've been waiting years for this to finally make it to DVD, and it's well worth the wait! There are no 'extras' to speak of, but I'm pleased to finally have the opportunity to view the film with the original British English intact. I never really understood why they changed certain words and not others. They did miss one, however... when young Shirley is talking to her friends about how boring her Science lesson was, she refers to a film of 2 rabbits having a "sc**w" as opposed to a "shag", which is what her lips are saying. Ironic, as that's become a more common word in the US, thanks in large part to the Austin Powers films. In any case, the film also comes in US English, as it was originally released on VHS years ago, which is fun, because that's how I remember first seeing it. <
>It's also great to see Joanna Lumley make a brief appearance, pre "AbFab"! <
>If you haven't seen this film, it's a treat, and the price is certainly reasonable, so buy it!
Delightful, delightful, can't wait to get it on DVD
One of my very favorite movies. It's the kind of movie you can watch over and over again without getting bored. Also saw it on the stage with the magnificent performance of Loretta Swit.
One of my favorites!
I love this movie and I'm so glad it's coming to DVD!! This movie is absolutely a must-see for anyone who ever wondered "what happened to my life? Where did I go?"
