Crow dedicates the set-closing rocker "Mississippi" to Bob Dylan, and even if a few favored hits are not included, this remains a noteworthy performance. Camera coverage is slick and editing tight, and while VHS viewers will likely be satisfied, the DTS DVD is mildly problematic, failing to achieve the "you-are-there" dynamics that videophiles have a right to expect. Fortunately, the concert itself is not compromised; the recording is crisp and carefully mixed. Crow no doubt had more lively gigs during this particular tour, but with an accommodating stage and a first-rate band in good spirits, this was a pretty good night to have the cameras around. --Jeff Shannon

Customer Reviews of Sheryl Crow - Rockin' the Globe Live - DTS
Love Sheryl Crow -- Hate this Sound Mixing Lovely, highly talented, Sheryl Crow is a joy to listen to and look at while she's singing. However, if you are a highly sensitive audiophile, pass on this DVD. The sound mixing is an embarassment to any professional. Sub-standard doesn't describe the sound mixing on this DVD. It's so bad some instruments are barely audible, and Sheryl's voice is set at a lower level than the drums at times. Shame, shame. <

>For me, though, I got it at a six dollar price and it's worth it just to get to watch Sheryl do her thing (yeah, baby).
A worthwhile purchase despite its issues
Most of the negative comments surrounding this DVD are valid, yet I decided to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised. Even though the sound mixing is substandard, Sheryl's performance is quite good. In addition, it's nice to have footage of Sheryl singing her lesser-known (but still high-quality) songs such as "Am I Getting Through" and "Riverwide." Customers should buy this DVD despite its flaws.
Adequate performance, substandard sound
I wanted to add the DVD to my 5.1 surround sound collection of concerts because most of Crow's hits I liked. Although her performance is adequate enough, I didn't care for some of the less-well-known songs. Mainly, however, the sound mix is pretty bad. The stereo is weak, the Dolby Digital 5.1 is almost as bad as the stereo, with little definition. The DTS is almost adequate, but not quite. It is nowhere near as good as the James Taylor "Pull Over" DVD or the Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" DVD. It's not even as good as the marginally acceptable Nora Jones "Live in New Orleans" DVD. But if you're a Sheryl Crow fan, go ahead and add this to your collection. You might be reasonably satisfied.
