Customer Reviews of Sharp R-414Hs 1100-Watt 1.4 Cubic Foot Microwave, Stainless
Works like a dream! We got this one as a wedding gift and a much-needed upgrade from my tiny, dorm room microwave we've been living with for 5 years. Great price for a great product...this thing is amazing! It cooks things very quickly and defrosting takes half the time as my old microwave. Once you get the hang of the pre-programmed functions, they are a snap to use and very handy. I like how the buttons are hidden by the door so the outside is sleek and uncluttered. And it's so SMART! When you cook or defrost using one of its settings, it will beep and flash instructions like 'flip and rotate then press start' or 'cover, let stand 5 min.' It's also much quieter than my old microwave, which is hard to believe since my old one was about 2/3 the size of this one. I love it, and I know you will too!
Great at first...then?
This microwave was attractive and we loved the features at first. After about 6 months it began a rattling noise, but we overlooked because it didn't affect its function. We've had it for a little over a year and the heating element just blew up. After using it properly, we're pretty disappointed that it only lasted this long. I don't think it was worth the purchase now.
Very disappointing
I've had two other Sharp microwaves and have really liked them. When I was shopping for a new one in March of this year because the previous one burned out after seven years, I insisted on a Sharp. This one have been a HUGE disappointment. I don't like having the buttons on the inside. It makes the door too big and I've hit my head on it when I've taken things out and put them on the kitchen counter. The buttons on the outside have always been difficult to work but now when I push the start button, I have to hold the door opening button to get it to work or it just counts down and MIGHT work for 60 seconds or so. If I liked the microwave better, I would take it in but I hate it. My husband and three children don't really care for it either. I may still buy a Sharp microwave this time but it won't be this model!
