Customer Reviews of Shadow Dancing
One of the disco era's BEST. Most people would recognize this album for it's title track "Shadow Dancing" - which was incredibly popular during it's day - but, suprize, that's not even the BEST song on this album. While most disco era artists put out albums containing maybe TWO marketable songs - Andy Gibb's "Shadow Dancing" is about 85% excellent, unforgettable songs. Very worth the cost of the CD, and sure to beat the polyester off of ANY of the disco compilations on the market (INCLUDING the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack).
Everlasting talent.
Andy Gibb's second album doesn't quite have the memorable songs of his debut, 'Flowing Rivers', but is still a good example of his and the Bee Gees excellence.
Andy had a great voice, closer in style to Barry than Robin, but he wasn't so heavy with the falsetto. His songwriting abilities are obviously inspired by his brothers, too. He pens 6 songs alone here, along with 2 co-writes with Barry.
The brilliant rhythmic title track is the absolute highlight here. Even back in 1978 when the 'Gees were EVERYWHERE, this stood out. It was his last #1 single, too. 'Everlasting Love' was another lovely moment, it's just so darn catchy! Andy covered his brothers' '(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away' to perfection. It even improves on their version.
Andy's own songs have the usual Bee Gees 'feel' to them, though are perhaps a little more slight. The rocky 'I Go For You' is probably his best sole composition though 'One More Look At Night', 'Good Feeling' and 'Fool For A Night' would all have made good singles.
It was such a shame that Andy only made three albums, all of which were splendid. At the time of his tragic death in 1988, he was planning to become the fourth Bee Gee. What a wonderful addition he would have been.
'As Good As It Gets'
Having been a fan of Andy Gibbs for years, I love his voice so. And this album is a masterpiece. He was so young and oh so talented. When he sang, my heart would melt and continues to do so afer all these years. When I hear "Shadow Dancing" I still feel the same that I felt when I first heard his sweet voice. We lost a treasure when he died............It was nice to have been able to express my thoughts. Thank you, Sheilla Bauman.
