Customer Reviews of Sense & Sensibility (Special Edition)
Sense and Sensibility Review I like this movie, mostly because I like the original story. Like most movies that are created from good books, the movie just isn't the same. However, I still enjoy this movie in and of itself and have seen it several times. I do not think the story line is as strong in the movie as in the book, but it is still entertaining and interesting enough to watch. I enjoy Emma Thompson's performance immensely; Kate Winslet is decent.
Wonderful!!
I absolutely adore Jane Austen, but often some of the TV and movie adaptations of her work fall short. But this one did not! Emma Thompson did a wonderful job on this script, and all the performances by this cast were great. I am proud to have this DVD in my collection. I never tire of watching it.
A Jane Austen film never fails to please
Alan Rickman and Hugh Grant are superb as is Emma Thompson (I watch over and over every movie she has ever made) and Kate Winslet. The Margaret Dashwood character is sweet and touchingly funny. The storyline stayed true to the original novel (Thompson is famous for keeping British literature as such) and the costumes, the scenery, the music...all perfection. The DVD is worth the price and it provides quality family entertainment.
