Not similar to breastfeeding in my opinion!
I was SO excited to hear about these bottles and searched high & low til I finally found them. My daughter HATES these bottles! For my first daughter she was a playtex disposables girl, but often had a mess when she was done since it runs out even if the baby isn't drinking. These Second Nature bottles look very cool in design and the theory sounds good, but my 5 week old daughter absolutely will not take them. She tried to latch on and seemed to really struggle to get the milk out then just gave up and refused to try again-switched to the palytex and she did fine. I tested one of the Second Nature bottles myself filled with water and it seemed I even had to really try hard to get the water out, nothing like breastfeeding in my opinion. We went out and bought a First Years Breastflow bottle which was more expensive, but the design was interesting. The Breastflow bottle is AWESOME! She took a minute to latch on, but once she got ahold of it it worked EXACTLY like breastfeeding (barely any gas either)and she went back to nursing the very next feeding with no hesitation! I will be buying more of the breastflow by First Years, but plan to try the Second Nature ones again when she's a little older. I just hate to think I wasted money on them by not trying again. Hope this helps other Moms.

Good in theory, but not in practice
I was excited when I first saw these advertised, as they sounded and looked like the perfect bottle for my breastfeeding baby. However, the blunt nipple is not as conducive to breast/bottle transition as it appears. My baby will take it, but not readily, and he's obviously not thrilled with it when he does. He has a very DEFINITE "What the--???" expression on his face the whole time and chews on the nipple intermittently while feeding. It also flows much faster than expected. I've had much better luck with the cheapest angled bottles using slow-flow nipples. I started my little guy on these at 4 weeks, preparing for the daycare transition. Hopefully he'll accept them better at an older age so I won't feel like they were a total waste. My local BabiesRUs store didn't carry the Second Nature bottles, so my cousin brought me a gift set from the Orlando store. If it weren't for her searching these out especially for me because I wanted to try them so badly, I probably would've returned them.

Good concept, design needs improvement
I bought the 9 oz set for my son and they worked beautifully at first, no leaks and no formula running out of his mouth when he decided to stop eating. If you tip it upside down there are absolutely no leaks. When the nipples are intact, the bottles work just like they advertise, so they are a good option if you are willing to take the extra time needed to care for them. The drawback is that the nipples are very sensitive, and you must be very careful when washing them or they will tear, then they obviously will leak. Top rack dw seems to be the best way to preserve them. I also realized just recently that when mixing formula in the bottle, if I shake the contents up and down, which puts pressure on the nipple, it can cause tearing to begin. I have contacted the manufacturer twice, and they are sending me another set of replacement nipples, my second set now. They also mentioned that the nipples need to be replaced after 2 months, as opposed to 3 in other cases. <
