Customer Reviews of Scarface (Widescreen Anniversary Edition)
Nothing more to add, save a comment on a special feature I do not have too much to add in the way of reviewing the content or significance of this movie. Quite simply, this film, which lived for years as a cult hit before being appreciated by a wider audience, is a classic in so many ways. This was the movie that led me to an appreciation of film, and I've gone on to embrace countless movies within several genres, from 'Paths of Glory' to 'M' to '12 Angry Men', thanks to the inspiration that this picture supplied. <

>My comment has to do with the absurd notion of including a special feature concerning the impact that this movie had on the hip hop generation and it's musicians. In no way, shape or form does this movie have anything to do whatsoever with hip hop, and to include a featurette of millionaire pseudo ganster rappers just because a few of them thought it was inspiring to see a character like Tony Montana on screen is TOTALLY irrelevant to the film and should not be presented as a feature within the DVD release. Quite simply, what drove this being included was money, plain and simple. The Nazi party has had incalcuable influence on skinhead hardcore bands, but I would not expect to see a featurette on the band 'Aryan' within a DVD of Nazi and/or WWII history. Just senseless and unnecessary. Don't get me wrong- I actually came to be aware of Scarface through an album released by The Geto Boys in 1990. So in a way I came to this film through the work of a rap group. However, to present the impact that Scarface had on the rap culture in general as a featurette, calling the film 'a hip hop classic' (!!!), is just plain wrong. They could mention this impact in a 'making of' sequence, but spending anymore than 1 minute in the process would do a disservice to the film. Overall, the features on this DVD are excellent, save the pointless and unnecessary rap segment.
"The World Is Yours"
This is one of Pacino's classic movies some say it is his best movie ever If you are a Pacino or a gangster/mafia movie fan this is a absoulute must for you . I have watched this movie about 20 times in my life thats a lot if you stop to think about it this is almost 3 hours long and Iam sure it will make its way into my dvd player many more times This is one of the most influential movies you can watch of someone who has gone from nothing and became something, "first you gotta get the money , then you gotta get the power , then when you got the money and the power then you get the wonmen"
