Customer Reviews of Saw III (Unrated Widescreen Edition)
Saw III Despite being generally bashed by critics, audiences have grown to love the "Saw" franchise due to its wicked twist endings (although some are contrived) and death scenes. One thing no one can deny about the "Saw" series is that the death scenes are very original. I loved the first two Saw movies, but "Saw III" is the weakest link in the chain. It's a good horror film, that has the same creative team behind it (same director as "Saw II" and same writer as both Saw movies) but it falls short in the plot department, mostly because it sometimes feels like screenwriter Leigh Wannell ran out of ideas and was just trying to get his script to the minimum amount of pages. That's not to say "Saw III" doesn't have a pretty good ending and some original death scenes. The movie has Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) dying...His protegee Amanda is desperately trying to keep him alive and continue his life's work, although she's not carrying out the games the way he did it. Now they have a new game, when they bring in a doctor named Lynn who cheats on her husband and neglects her daughter. Lynn is responsible for keeping Jigsaw alive, with her punishment for not doing so being death. She has a device wired with explosives chained around her neck. If Jigsaw dies, the explosives will go off and Lynn will die. She has to keep Jigsaw alive until the other game has been finished. The other game has a man named Jeff vying through a maze of puzzles, because he has neglected everyone around him since the death of his son. The game he is in gives him a chance to exact revenge against the people responsible for his son's death or forgive them. If you pay very close attention to the beginning of the film, then you won't be very surprised by the ending. Pay particularly close attention to the faces of many characters. The director of the film had enough faith in the fact that the audience would not be paying attention to the face of one particular character that they built an ending around it. "Saw III" is as sick and twisted as it's predecessors, but it's also quite a bit more boring. However, if you enjoyed the other "Saw" films...Then you're just as likely to enjoy this one. If you didn't like the other films (if you didn't, I might add, you shouldn't even be reading this) then you won't like this one either. <

Jigsaw has one last game from his death bed
Saw 3 is so well done- so well written its laughable that anyone could give it a bad review. Some people apparently didn't get it. This is the best horror series ever. How many series have a stronger part 3 in their catalogue? I think this one is as good or better than the first one, because it was a different idea as well as tight scripting and the fact that nobody is off limits from Jigsaw's games. This should have won an oscar, yeah I said it. What would you rather watch Brokeback Mountain or the inner workings of Jigsaw before he has brain surgery. This edition keeps the body count low, but the severity of the torture is the highest to date. One poor guy gets the Theisman treatment on not one but 5 parts of his body. Somewhere in D.C. Theisman is watching this and peeing himself. Jigsaw is a unique cat, he is up to his tricks with his lovely assistant Shawnee Smith as well. Lots of great scenes explaining more about the first 2 epic films. I thought this film had some of the rudest scenes in a long time, so its not for everyone. Its also not for everyone who thinks Saw 3 should be exactly like the first movie, move on and open your mind to a fresh idea and evolution. So to sum it up, the best series ever just got better, whats not to like?
