More obscure sketches show Myers at his most bizarre, charming, and experimental. "Lothar of the Hill People" challenged network censors with not-so-subtle allusions to masturbation and female genitalia, while Myers's penchant for all things British is frequently indulged, including spot-on send-ups of Ron Wood and Mick Jagger. His portrayal of a hypoglycemic, hyperactive 6-year-old--complete with safety helmet and restraining harness--is both outrageously funny and more than a little dangerous. (It's a miracle that guest host Nicole Kidman keeps a straight face as she feeds the "kid" a chocolate bar, with the expected results.) And while other sketches such as "Middle Aged Man" were not likely to follow Wayne and Dieter to big-screen success, they show Myers doing what he does best: conceiving original characters and pushing them to comedic extremes. --Jeff Shannon

Customer Reviews of Saturday Night Live - The Best of Mike Myers (Bonus Edition)
A few good laughs Overall, some okay skits, but many lame skits. The Tokyo gameshow is hilarious because of Chris Farley. The other good skit is Mike Myers as the English Patient in WWII with Rob Schnieder as Hitler. The sprockets skits, coffee talk and Wayne's World skits aren't that funny. You can see where much of his Austin Powers material comes from in this DVD
Where is the "Welcome To All Things Scottish" guy!?!?
This is the one, huge, gaping hole in the whole "Best of Mike Myers" compilation. Those skits - especially the one when Patrick Stewart was hosting the show - were pee in your pants, LOL funny! Way funnier than "Simon" or the toothpaste commercial. I don't own this, and as long as that skit is missing, I hesitate to buy it. It's a pity, because aside from the "Simon" and toothpaste commercial, it's good stuff. I happen to love "Lothar of the Hill People."
Where are the extras???
Some other reviewer already mentioned this, but I have to comment on it also. The bonus edition was supposed to contain extra material, outtakes, dress rehearsal etc. Where are the extras? I feel totally cheated because the DVD really wasn't all that. The extras might have saved a lot. Plus the menus are insanely slow and frustrating. All in all it was OK. A few sketches were really funny (e.g. Dieter's dream) but others I found completely useless (e.g. the Lothar bit) Conan O'Brien's appearance in the Lank Thompson sketch was a nice surprise! If anyone has found the extras on the bonus edition DVD, please tell me how to access them.
