Customer Reviews of Sarah McLachlan - Fumbling Towards Ecstasy Live
Talk is out! Yes, I like this video
Fumbling Toward Ecstasy, but that studio talk is too much every time I expected to here a song there she was talking in the studio with other. When I want to listen to video with music that all it should be.
Sarah McLachlan in concert way back in 1994
This might be a concert video, but when you are talking the musical stylings of Sarah McLachlan you are talking about an intimate experience, not glitz and glimmer. This is from 1994 when Sarah still had long hair and Lilith Fair was but a glimmer in her eye. Now she has married drummer Aswhin Sood and they are expecting their first child. How time flies when you are making good music. So, if you have "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" and "The Freedom Sessions," why do you need this video for your collection? I would offer up two reasons. The first is the live studio version of "The Path of Thorns (Terms)," which is totally stripped down to basically a couple of acoustic guitars. So nothing gets in the way of the acappel1a harmonies of everyone's voices at the end. The second is the rock and roll version of "Hold On," which is still my personal favorite. I have heard Sarah do the song live four times and every time I find myself hoping it will be the rocker version, but it never is, which is why having this video tape is important. Otherwise, you get nine of the dozen tracks from the titled album, along with five earlier songs (e.g., "Ben's Song," with her memorable introduction of who the song was written for) and what was then a new treat, "Ol' 55.")
A musician before her worldwide fame
Having seen Sarah Mclachlan in concert at Lilith Fair and watched the Mirrorball video, it's interesting to see an earlier performance. She looks like a different person; minimal makeup, long curly hair, dowdy clothes, a chubby figure. But her voice is just the same, and it's great to hear different live versions of her better songs, as well as to see the live studio and interview segments of this video.
