Customer Reviews of Sanyo SR-3500 35-Bottle Wine Cooler, Black with Chrome Trim
Poor packing, but overall satisfied Despite reading all of the other scary reviews about receiving units that were damaged in shipment, I decided to go ahead and order this. I was able to select next-day delivery for $3.99 (as an Amazon Prime subscriber), so I was hoping the fast delivery would lessen the chance of damage. <

>The unit arrived as scheduled via Fed-Ex next day air, and the box that the unit was in was in perfect condition. However, I still required the deliveryman to help me open the box so I could be sure there was no damage. <

>The unit had very little packaging around it ... just a bit of styrofoam on the corners of the unit. Pretty inadequate considering that it has a glass door and that parts of the refridgeration unit stick out a bit from the back. I did notice that there were some minor dents on one side (I doubt they happened in delivery), but you only notice them when the light shines on the side at a certain angle. After signing for the package and installing the unit, I also noticed that there is a bar at the back that is slightly bent which causes the cooler to be a little wobbly. I solved this to my satisfaction by putting a bit of cardboard at the appropriate point. <

>One other small note ... the shelves inside were taped to prevent movement during shipping, but whoever put the tape on did an incredibly sloppy job. Many of the pieces of tape didn't even touch the shelves, and there was one shelving unit that was loose and was rattling around during shipment. <

>I now have the unit set up in my dining room, and it has a very nice look to it. The unit just arrived a few hours ago, so I don't know how well the unit functions, but at this point I am very pleased with my purchase. <

>If you are thinking about ordering this unit, you are taking somewhat of a risk, although if it arrives undamaged I think it is a pretty good deal.
Everything stated here is true
In spite of everything we read here, we indeed ordered this wine chiller as a wedding gift. (Thinking that surely after this many complaints, the company would have corrected the packaging problems.) Silly us - the unit arrived with a dent in the back side and a good-sized chunk out of the front door frame. The giftee said the entire unit was packed so poorly, it was literally rattling around inside the box.

>We're not sure what good it will do to return this product (not to mention the hassle involved) as the replacement will obviously arrive in the same type of packaging and could be in even worse shape. The shame of it is this is an attractive unit that you should be proud to show off; instead, it's one that has to be hidden due to improper packaging and warrants a simple "DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT."

Totally Inadequate packaging stories are all TRUE
I can't believe it. I ordered one, and it arrived almost OK. The box was intact for the most part. When I opened the box and saw the THIN THIN, 1/2 inch foam they use to pack this thing, my heart sank.

>Sure enough, the corner of the cooler was DENTED and the compressor was knocked out of its mounts. The compressor mounts were damaged as well.

>I simply can't imagine this thing arriving at all without being damaged.

>Oh, and the wine cooler isn't all that quiet. It's not as loud as an old fridge, but you can really hear the compressor run, and it shudders a bit when it turns on and off. Fine for the basement, not so great for a den or something.
