Customer Reviews of SanDisk 2 GB Extreme IV CompactFlash Card ( SDCFX4-2048-901 )
WOW...now that's fast! Added this Extreme IV card to my collection of Extreme III cards used in my photography. Works without a glitch. I set my camera (Canon 20D) on continous shooting, full RAW, aimed it at a visually busy scene, and held the trigger down. It stopped to complete writing somewhere around 8 frames. I'm pleased with that.
Very Fast as Advertised
It is what it is, very fast and no problems with my new Canon EOS 30D
Recommend SanDisk Ultra II for Canon XTi instead of Exteme IV
While shooting in continuous mode with a Canon XTi and 2GB SanDisk Ultra II CF, the XTi write buffer fills and shooting stops after approximately 11 shots (RAW file format). Ordered a SanDisk 2GB Extreme IV from Amazon to see if the faster write speed spec would translate into improved continuous mode performance. Found that the write buffer fills just as fast with the Extreme IV. Also, no difference in time until shooting can resume. The bottleneck in terms of CF write speed appears to be the XTi and not the CF card. Returning the Extreme IV to Amazon and will stick with the Ultra II CF. If you're deciding between the Extreme IV and the Ultra II for your Canon XTi, go with the 4GB Ultra II (also cheaper than the 2GB Extreme IV).
