Customer Reviews of Safety 1st Apex 65 Booster Seat - Lancer
Height requirements restrictive I have a 40 pound 3 year old that will not reliably keep his shoulder behind the seatbelt in a booster. I am on a quest for a car seat that can keep a child in the harness past 40 pounds. <

>This is one of the options, but it did not work for us. My son is tall for his age (about 42 inches) and normally proportioned, and his shoulders are already too tall for the 5 point harness. I think it would have to be a short stocky child that could use this harness much past 40 pounds! <

>We have bought the Britax Regent for my SUV, and it works well but is HUGE! I am sure it wouldn't fit in most cars. For smaller cars, try the Sunshine Kids Radian. Its harness can be used up to 65 pounds also, but accommodates taller children than the Apex, and is smaller than the Regent or other Britax models.
Nice price, some flaws, horrible customer service...
I have owned many car seats for my 2 kids over the past 4 years. They both are tall and grow fast so we seem to outgrow carseats quickly! I was delighted to find this seat as it has a higher harnessed weight limit than anything besides the Britax seats. To start with the positives: my son is very tall for his age but he fits very nicely in this seat. Even at 4 1/2 yrs old, he is still just in the second to highest shoulder slot. The padding is nice, the price is fantastic! However, the crotch strap does not allow much room. Even in the space furthest from the back of the seat, there isn't any room to grow. Fortunately, he is thin, but, my 2 yr old is unable to sit in it because of this reason (she's a bit chunkier!). My other complaint is the arm rests. They are covered with a nice pad, however, this pad is not attached to the arm rest or seat in any way. Every time my son slides out of the seat, the pads come with him. We were in a parking lot and they slid off and out of the car. I tossed them back in, but, didn't check to make sure they both made it into the car. Unfortunately, one of them didn't and it was lost. I called Safety First customer service and they do not sell individual arm pads. They only offer the entire pad set (including the seat pad) at $99!!!! What?!?!?!?! I might as well buy a whole new seat for that price! I then sent a letter and recieved a barely polite, dismissive reply. Needless to say, this has soured my view of the seat and will think twice before purchasing another product from this company.
Overall very good!
I just purchased this seat for my 3yr old boy. He loves the seat. My son is a little big/stocky (avg. height) and he has plenty of room in this seat. I like the 5 point harness going up to 65lbs. I also like the padding in the seat. The harness straps and clips are easy to use and don't get as tangled as some I have tried. We have only had it a short time so, we will see how it holds up. So far I am very happy with this seat.
