Customer Reviews of Safe N Secure Seat
I THINK IT'S GREAT! I found the Safe & Secure Safety Seat very easy to put on the cart. I was even at a popular warehouse store with the huge shopping carts and found that it fit just fine. I still would recommend wiping down the bar & sides where it doesn't cover. Also, as far as the velcro sticking to everything, if you stick the velcro to its intended opposite when storing, you avoid it sticking to the wrong pieces.
The key to making it easy on yourself is parking near a cart return so you can leave your child seated in the car while you get a cart. Then, put the seat on before taking your child out of the car.
I have a 13 month old that is able to stand & turn around in a cart no matter how tight the waist belt on the cart is. This Safe and Secure Seat kept him seated & content. Once he realized that he couldn't stand with the shoulder harness on, he didn't try again.
I would highly recommend this item.
Works OK but maddening to use!
This restraint seat does do what it's supposed to: keeps the baby in the seat & generally unable to flop over to the side or stand up. It also is nice when it does cover the typically germ-y handles of shopping carts. But I curse it every time I use it, and here's why:
1. It's difficult to set up, and near impossible if you are alone and holding your baby. All its Velcro parts stick to the fabric binding on every edge - so the whole thing gets stuck together in all the wrong ways, and you have to literally rip it apart to get it open correctly just to get the baby seated in it.
2. It often does not fit the shopping carts, especially those with the plastic-frame advertisements bolted on the back of the child seat (the back and side Velcro tabs are not long enough to reach around to the few metal rungs not covered by the advertisement); and it also does not fit the carts that are really big - the top part with the chewy toys has to reach too far to lap over the cart handle, making the bottom portion unable to fold under and close with the Velcro.
3. The constant ripping of the Velcro against the fabric binding makes the whole thing look THRASHED within one or two uses - loose threads and fuzzy wisps of fabric hanging off the binding and on the Velcro.
All that said, it generally does the job & it's not too expensive, so it's worth buying if you want your baby to be held securely in the shopping cart. (Though, be prepared to stuff your purse or a jacket on one side of the baby as a prop, if the cart prevents you from sticking both side Velcro tabs.)
I love it! It's not difficult at all.
I don't know if they redesigned this product from the time a lot of the users posted about the velcro, etc. being tough to work with but mine uses clips and elastic and is a breeze to put on and take off even alone. I LOVE it!
