Customer Reviews of Sabrina
Hamlet without a Hamlet That sounds cruel, but it's true -- even without memories of Audrey Hepburn. Harrison Ford is not as weirdly sinister as the miscast Humphrey Bogart was, and Greg Kinnear and Nancy Marchand are delightful. But Pollack's direction takes its cue from a twinkly score that sounds at times like Satie, more often like "sophistication" being spooned by Mr. Rogers. As Bogie would say, skip it.
Artfully humorous romance full of deception
SABRINA is a fresh remake of an older Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn romance story about transformation, recognition, and deception presented with humor. Sabrina Fairchild (Julia Ormond) is the disrespected and ignored chauffeur's daughter looming through the trees at the secret love of her life, wealthy playboy David Larrabee (Greg Kinnear).

>After returning from Paris, Sabrina with a new haircut, change of clothing, and refined poise becomes the latest object of David's affection. The problem is she is the "chauffeur's daughter" -- and David is engaged to be married. The relationship interferes with a billion dollar merger. So older brother and financial tycoon Linus Larrabee (Harison Ford) devises an insincere scheme to steal Sabrina's heart away from David. Her vulnerability has an effect on Linus and he begins to recognize there is more to life than business deals.

>Ormond and Ford deliver performances qualifying SABRINA to be on the short list of movies to be watched repeatedly. (For me this means it was worth repurchase on DVD to supplement the VHS.)

Just go to Paris for the Ultimate Makeover
Sabrina Fairchild grows up on the Larabee Estate near New York as the only daughter of a widowed chauffer. Nursing a crush on the younger son David, her frumpy and plump looks fail to attract his interest. When mother Maud sends Sabrina to Paris to intern with Vogue for several months she is transformed into quite the French belle. Upon her return, Sabrina is met by David who has no idea who she is. Once back in New York, David is smitten, Linus is too, and the love Sabrina has wanted all along turns out to be the person who has been right in front of her and she hadn't noticed - workaholic Linus!
